Hey serious bikers? A generous friend gave me his high-end Specialized mountain bike to replace my stolen ride. I hadn’t ridden too often in years. I will ride almost exclusively on asphalt. Do I want a slick or semi-slick tire?

@shoq I’m not a very serious biker but I have a decent mountain bike and riding it on the road is no problem even with mountain bike tires. I live someplace pretty hilly so the gearing is very nice

@jeremy_list @ncoca I’m pretty sure bird site had actual PRC propaganda officers on it, they were so dedicated. My favorite was when they started arguing with me based on the definition of words they were clearly looking up and then using in a very nonstandard way

@ai6yr the other day I surprised the cat by dropping a towel on it as it slept, bundled it up with only one front paw sticking out, the stood there as my wife clipped the needles, then we switched paws. Didn’t get mauled at all but did have to go for a walk to burn off the adrenaline

@MoBlack @StillIRise1963 Trump and Biden are both on record with what they want to see happen, if you can’t see a distinction that’s on you. Also the American election is not and shouldn’t be 100% about Palestine. Trump is on record wanting to arrest and deport more people than live in Gaza. They matter too

@MoBlack @StillIRise1963 either Biden or Trump will be President in 2025. I’m looking at two imperfect choices like an adult and considering which is better. I choose not to imprison and deport tens of millions of our neighbors, and I think it’s pretty sick that you’re advocating against voting in that choice

In my latest YouTube video I use the phrase “the people is” several times. This has started quite a discussion in the comments section about whether or not that is grammatically correct. Some people insist it’s always “people are”, while others say that in this case “people is” is the right way. What’s right? Is there a nuance between British and American English here?

@dr2chase @ai6yr of course Houston has a used toilet store. Moving away was the right thing for me but I love that city.

(When we moved there part of a lamp broke. My wife was astounded to learn there was a lamp parts store a ten minute drive away, and $7 and a six-lane road later we had a complete lamp.)

Normally I refill my carpenter ant's feeder with cold water. Today I used warm.

Hooo boy! Did I cause a controversy. The girls did their best to attack the "threat."

They have called out the big guns: the majors with their wide winter rear ends and big heads waddled out of the nest to "take down the problem"

Since it's slowly cooling I assume they think they've done it. They killed the water feeder. Mission Accomplished

Great job girls!

(I thought they might enjoy basking on it but no... )

Is there a cool top of the line sleek hearing aid with great software and noise canceling options and it also plays music and sounds amazing with like nine lil microphones and 5 tiny speakers and it looks amazing and stuff?

  1. my mom needs one and I have not been impressed with what others who use them say about them.

  2. if I ever need one I expect it to do all this and more.

@futurebird My father has Oticon ones which he loves. He takes all phone calls on them and they also shift frequencies towards ones the user can hear, so he went from not being able to understand my daughters to being able to hear them perfectly
