Partially rotoscoping directly on the computer speeds up the animation process considerably. So far, the output seems consistent with the Mars walk cycle for the protagonist. This was based on footage of my youngest child, which I'll show in a comment.

Next to add some finer linework and colour.

Future Ghost is primarily a light point & click adventure game with turn-based combat, but there's also this action puzzle. If the player has difficulty navigating the floodwaters, they can choose to skip this stage and the young Song will swim through the debris without player input.

This is an feature. As a / Future Ghost can be enjoyed by variously-abled people.

NOTE: Watch full size! The comic book textures scale up well, but not down.

It's primarily a point & click adventure with RPG-style turn-based battles, but this will be broken up with some action and puzzle sequences to provide some variety.

★ Please watch as BIG as possible for best results! It may be particularly important for anyone with eyesight/perception issues to watch on a PC at full size, to avoid moving moiré patterns or at least reduce their effects.

The player character swims away from an approaching wall of flood water, avoiding assorted flotsam as he goes.

@kateri I really do think you've found the sweet spot.

The recent-ish "remastered" LucasArts p&c titles go a bit too far, in my opinion, by abandoning the pixel in favour of the vector. Your visuals look to me the way I would've preferred those re-releases to have looked.

Looking for recommendations of audio recording equipment.

Specifically, the kind of older equipment that should be cheap to buy second hand in Japan. Like, really f'n cheap.

My intention is to record sound effects with it, both ambient and foley, for use in game dev. Whether or not I actually will is another question. 😅

So it turns out Shinseiki Evangelion: Battle Orchestra plays great with an arcade stick, emulated on a PS3.

Also, made a shadow box display of some N64 carts to liven up the space. Weird photo angle for privacy's sake.
