I should be banned from wearing white tops. There’s been a sriracha spillage

@purplepadma Au contraire. Accidents are an opportunity for learning. 😜

And PPE such as bibs, are not part of tedious red-tape, but are the outcome of centuries of sriracha-based learning. We slash safety rules at our peril.

I always feel uncomfortable at events that are memorials of Britain's wars.
I consider myself patriotic and British but not in the way that many people interpret the terms.

The obsession with the past is holding us, as a nation, hostage to something that we no longer are (or should want to be).

Why do we have to live in the military past?
Surely there's so much to celebrate about how we live in peace.

Let's move on.

An important early Christian document, the Crosby-Schøyen Codex, is up for auction in London. This codex is a mid-fourth century book from Egypt containing a combination of Bible and non-Biblical texts.

It was discovered around the same time as the Dead Sea Scrolls, but with significantly less fanfare

Don't save good things for a mythical future "special occasion" that may never come. Don't leave pretty journals blank for fear of ruining them with your words. Don't leave the nice wine on the rack to get corked.

Use the good things to make today the special occasion. When they come to clear your house when you're dead, let them find full journals and empty bottles. Not the other way around.

(The bottles can be from fancy olive oil or something if booze isn't your thing. 😉)

I would have been a terrible Viking because I'd wander off during raids to pet the dogs in the village & my co-workers would keep complaining to Viking HR about me.

@TheBreadmonkey teenage girls are law unto themselves. I was trying to bait my 16 yo daughter about Rishi's National Service policy. She just looked me in the eye and said "No.".

I like to imagine Tories assigning a minister to persuade teenagers that they must do national service. Totally incompatible mindsets.

There are a couple of old Anglo-Saxon words that I've become obsessed with and think we need to bring back into modern English.

Earthfast: literally bound to the earth. It can refer literally to a rock half buried and stuck in place but also can mean a person who is settled. It's like being in your comfort zone and having a place you belong.

Wondersmith: a blacksmith makes iron things, a silversmith makes silver things. A wondersmith makes wonderful things.
A maker basically
