Do you have any interest in playing modern PC games on a CRT monitor?

Check out my Steam Curator group, we review games and provide information about how well they support 4:3 resolutions. Just updated today with a review for the remaster!

Hey fedi friends! Today is the last day of functionality for the 3DS online services. If you have a Pokémon game for this system and have any requests for last minute additions, let me know. The cutoff time is 4pm PDT.

My friend code is: 0275-8940-4508

Feel free to add me, and I'll need your code too if you want to link up. It's a sad day, but I'm still going to try to enjoy these last handful of hours that we have left!

I think I'm finally ready to share my website. Been working on this off & on for over a month, it's just a simplistic web portal-type thing for all the stuff I've put out on the internet.

This is my first time making a website from scratch, so I'll likely update the design as I learn better ways of doing things. I'm in love with the old web ethos on Neocities, it encouraged me to finally make the jump!

These Lego sets from the 1970s were part of my 2023 Christmas present haul. I'm struck by the timeless design of these toys; despite being 50 years old, these were just as fun to put together as any modern set that I'm more used to seeing. They may be more simplistic in design, but the joy of building still shines through!

I wrote about my favorite free Steam games that were released in 2023 for my website. If you're looking for some new PC games to try without breaking the bank, you might find something interesting in here that you haven't seen before!

Broke out 7 Wonders Duel for the first time today. Super engaging 2 player game with not much of a learning curve. I've got to imagine that most board gamers out there are familiar with it, but if not, this definitely gets my recommendation!

I'll be interested to see what the replay value is like in future games, there are different ways to win and a varied assortment of cards each time should allow for some randomness to the outcomes.

How many devices do you have at home that can run Doom?

My grand total: 18

I narrowed this down to anything that can feasibly play either the original DOS version or a valid source-port today with no extra modifications or materials needed. Unfortunately, a handful of my devices missed this cut-off.

After configuring Windows 11 on a handful of computers at work, I've learned definitively that I want Microsoft's tendrils as far away from my home machines as possible in the near future.

Windows 10 was a nuisance, but I learned to live with it and even grew to appreciate some aspects of it. Windows 11 is a crime against humanity. Forcing people to "upgrade" to this version by 2025 is a joke.

Working with computers used to be fun. What happened?

Soon, a retro game will just be anything that has a discontinued online service attached to it

PSA for users:

Beware this , I was almost the victim of it tonight. This person on my friends list claimed that they purchased a market item from an account that was impersonating my identity & accidentally reported me for an illegal purchase. They wanted me to get in contact with a Steam moderator on Discord to sort it out.

Do NOT follow through with this. It may sound scary in the moment but trust your instincts. A Valve employee will not contact you for any reason.

#introduction Hi, I'm posting this because I recently snapped back to reality from a prolonged fugue state I've been experiencing since June 2023. I have no recollection of my posts on here, so it's time to wipe the slate clean. Here are some of my interests:

Stamp & coin collecting
Trainspotting
Stone skipping
Ghost hunting
Yelp reviews
Loitering at the grocery store
Online debates
Yodeling at sunrise

My cat Teela is going to the vet today, she is acting very weak and hasn't eaten or drank much over the past day or two as far as I can tell.

Send your well wishes out into the universe in whichever way that you see fit. We love her and hope she can make a speedy recovery.

A picture of Teela from when we were wrapping Christmas presents last year. She's safe and content inside a wrapping paper fort

Made a rambly 30+ minute video with shaky webcam footage documenting my final moments of 3DS online tonight.

It's currently published on YouTube, trying to setup a PeerTube account so maybe I can post more stuff like this on the fediverse in the future. I'll link that in a reply if and when it happens.

One underrated benefit from the internet's "appification" era from my perspective is how the domain name arms race doesn't hold the same potency that it did years ago.

Even on a PC, I find myself just clicking on bookmarked website icons or links from other sources rather than typing a URL from scratch. I'm generally more concerned about the content contained in the site than what it's actually called.

Am I crazy, or are domain names just not the same mark of legitimacy that they used to be?
