Well, I thought it was when my son sent it to me from today, and then I joked that it might be a new .

It is, actually, light from a new volcano in the Peninsula, where all the other action has been.

The son is living (for grad school) on the north side of (about 25 mi. north of and he said the light in the sky was visible from his apartment. He and his room mate went down to the beach to get a clearer picture.

Is it must me, or is there something deeply unserious about both and pledging they would, of course, pardon Trump of any federal convictions. Regardless of any further evidence. Regardless of what judges and/or juries decide.

Sure, DeSantis insists it's just akin of Ford pardoning Nixon to help "re-unite a divided country." Except, pardoning Trump wouldn't reunite anything. It would be taken as an exoneration, by both Trump and his mob.

I had a horizontal format Casio calculator, like that, in HS in 1975, but with various trig and math functions, black case, buzzing blue LEDs ... and, hell yeah, I had a black belt hoder for it, and wore it around ...

Come to think of it, I still wear my mobile on my belt.

@KevinFreitas It was my first calculator at the time, purchased for HS geometry., so it had all the trig and log functions on it. My sense is it was a non-trivial but not prohibitive expense, esp. for private high school students; I was by no means the only one who had one.

I've looked at sites on calculators of the time, and haven't spotted it. Alas, it is long gone now.

So it looks like we finally got an actual volcanic in north of . It's not far from the power plant and (literally just reopened today) Blue Lagoon, but on the other side of some topography so they are likely safe; Grindavik, otoh, is direclty downstream, big fissure, fast lava flow.

magical pregnancies aside, going from the special to season 2 of TNG is giving me some fucking whiplash

this new fucking chief medical officer misgendering Data and mispronouncing his name ... I REALLY miss Doctor Crusher

I started watching TNG for the first time (minus a few random episodes) a few days ago. I never watched until Xan and I started dating, and we watched DS9 together and then Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds

I'm a completionist at heart, so I've been contemplating watching all Trek for a while (I also want to watch all Doctor Who--or at least all of it that still exists), but there's so many series that take place at different times, it was hard to know the best order to watch them in--I want to watch them both in release order and in timeline/chronological order, but I found a viewing order guide that made sense to me, and it had me start with TNG so here we are

@agenderfox I'd certainly be more circumspect about my doubts ... but it's established pretty early that Data's wildly unique for the Federation/Star Fleet (for reasons that seem odd, given the level of AI we'd seen in TOS, but anyway), in ways that will have even bigger ramifications for him than just Pulaski's rudeness.

Plus, to the extent that she's a curmudgeonly analog analog for Luddite Dr McCoy, her skepticism fits narratively, if not realistically. 🙂
