Without looking it up, which one of these four was not one of the original four nodes of the internet/arpanet?

I would like to personally thank for providing the final push I needed to finally replace the remaining stuff in our infrastructure.

"Do you have big plans for your Saturday evening?"

You bet! I just watched some of the new Bluey episodes and I'm about to update the firmware on the wifi adapter for my Atari!

One tip for - if you use something like Google Authenticator, etc., for TOTP, also save your MFA codes to a secure backup, like a @keepassxc database you store locally on another device. This way if your phone gets lost/stolen/broken, you aren't locked out of all of your MFA accounts. There is nothing server side that can tell how many times you scan the QR code. You can register the same TOTP with Google Auth, Authy, and Keepassxc, and it should all work the same.

What I love most about those, "We don't provide packages, just curl | bash" type programs is how you never have to update them and you can just stay on that one stale version forever right on up until your laptop dies.

Before , there were many apps built upon 's engine via xulrunner. It's very unfortunate that ceded this space and allowed Chrome-based apps to fill in the gap. Regardless of your opinion about browser based apps, it's unfortunate that they're such a platform monopoly now.

Here's a fun script pop-quiz for you:

[[ true == false ]] && myvar=2 || ( myvar=0 ; myvar=$(( $myvar + 1 )) )

echo $myvar

Bonus points if you can say why :-)

This poll is for identified people, regardless of level of participation. If you were baptized as a baby, but don't attend parish services, you still count for this poll.

When you say "Christian", do you most often mean:

By chance does anyone have a link to a recording of the panel from today? I'm very interested to watch it, but sadly couldn't make it to the conference this time.

It looks like the CDN files.mastodon.online for is currently broken and redirecting everything to https://(null)/ from files.mastodon.online.

If you're wondering why some pictures and media aren't loading right now, this is why.

Is there a good guide to ? What's a good app? What's a good way to discover content? For example, how would I find guitar equipment reviews/comparisons?

Today I learned that has its own front-end for compatible databases called "Secrets". If you're a user who likes the concept of a powerful, self-hosted, fully open source secrets manager like @keepassxc, but would like a simpler interface for it, you might check it out:

One of the hard things about the thing is that 's existence as a community rebuild was so often touted by people at Red Hat as a testiment to Red Hat's commitment to . It wasn't whether or not they could shut it down, but that they knew about it and intentionally didn't. Of course, there were those at Red Hat who disagreed with that back then, but it was very much a pitch point for what Red Hat was about in the space.

How many engineers does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

At least 3.

One to write the Jenkinsfile that calls the Ansible playbook that checks the status of 1,000s of lightbulbs across the org to screw in the one that is loose - and two to review the pull request to merge that file into the main branch so it gets deployed in prod.

The saying "if you want to have any respect for laws or sausages, don't watch them being made" counts for some distributions, too.

As much flack as I've given over source shenanigans, they've kept AWX and available to the public, very much to their credit. Tower was proprietary when they bought it and they opened it and kept it open.

And yes, this post is really about . Don't do false equivalent arguments. Hashicorp definitely did the worse thing.

For once I would like a company to just be honest and say, "We did this bad thing for our shareholders" instead of trying to spin it like it was somehow out of a sort of benevolence for other people who got the short end of the stick.

Very sad to hear about the passing of @nova . She was a valuable asset to DevOps and open source, often pushing the envelope on what was possible and challenging business as usual. She will be greatly missed.

Why it can be so hard to convince people to "just stop using X and use Y program instead".

It's not so much just about the migration at this point but do I have the capacity to fork, own, and maintain all the orphaned stuff we would need, for the entire world, forever?
