Boycott campaigns over #Gaza war hit Western brands in some Arab countries
Some of the companies the campaign is directed at are perceived to have taken pro-Israeli stances, and some are alleged to have financial ties to Israel or investments there.
In #Egypt and some Persian Gulf states, once-bustling #Starbucks and #McDonald’s outlets sit empty thanks to a boycott of U.S. brands. And in #Beirut, #Tunis and other Arab capitals, protesters have marched on U.S. diplomatic missions, sometimes burning American flags, to vent their fury at the staggering death toll in #Gaza.
Since the start of the war, American brands have emerged as the main recipients of street-level anger over the U.S. role in the conflict. A platform called Bdnassh, meaning “We don’t want,” allows users to see if a particular brand is on a boycott list alongside Pizza Hut, Pepsi and many other mainstays.

Massacres are being committed still. Yesterday alone, 600 people have been killed by #israeli bombardment and almost no coverage or outrage. Don't get used to the rising numbers, the same massacre in the Baptist hospital has been committed on other schools and hospitals. Don't get used to it. Demand a ceasefire.

As Nick El Hajj reports, Kuwait and Lebanon have moved to ban "Barbie" because, as the Lebanese Culture Minister states, the film has been found to was found to 'contradict values of faith and morality' and to 'promote homosexuality and sexual transformation.'
@w7voa ha! I have yet to see #Barbie. But, I did see #TalkToMe & I think it is funny that they are banning a horror film. Those ideas & beliefs are alien to all societies because… checks notes… it’s a fictional piece of work that deals with communing with the dead/demons which is not something one can really do in reality.
US DoD: About 100 Alaska U.S. Army National Guardsmen from Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 297th Infantry Regiment, are set to deploy to #Kuwait in November 2023. This deployment is part of Operation Spartan Shield (OSS).
