#Introduction

We're the official Mastodon page for the USS Albacore Museum!

The USS ALBACORE (AGSS 569) is an experimental #submarine built in 1953. Designed with an innovative teardrop hull form, she serves as the prototype for all modern-day submarines in the #USNavy. In 1986 she was dry-locked at #AlbacorePark and was officially opened to the public!

Come take a tour and visit our #museum, gift shop, and memorial garden dedicated to those lost at sea. We look forward to meeting you!

Time for a new hard-surface modeling project, using the trusty MagicaCSG 3D editor: a submarine.

As usual, I'll keep you posted of the progress.

By request of @kbob , here's one more rendering of my submarine, viewed from a different angle. 🙂

Channel Islands: Four-year search leads local divers to solve WW1 U-boat mystery (guernseypress.com)

A First World War German submarine last seen in 1917 has been found by a team of Guernsey specialist divers following a four-year search.Lying in more than 70m of water, the wreck of the UC II Class mine-laying submarine UC-18 and that of which they believe to be the British ship which sank her, HMS Lady Olive, have been located...

In 2014, I made a steampunk submarine costume for my son's wheelchair. When the chair was in motion, the pinwheel twirled, the wheel's design spiraled, and the periscope was retractable. Made entirely from cardboard and random stuff, including paper tubes, pill container lids, altoids tins, wallpaper, duct tape, and a clear plastic salad bowl rescued after a catered event.

"No one is sure why, but in 1898 Rufus T. Owens of Central City, Colorado (elevation 9,000 feet) decided to build a submarine, which he named the Nautilus. He and a few friends launched it on nearby Missouri Lake. They ballasted it with three tons of rocks. Owens intended to captain the maiden voyage himself, but fortunately for him, the submarine sank before he had a chance to climb inside."

1/ Finnish government to make announcement on gas pipeline leak in Gulf of Finland.

According to Gasgrid Finland, the only possible reason for the unusual pressure drop in the Balticconnector pipeline is a hole in the pipe, which has only been in use for a few years.

Personal note: I'm assuming that the fact that there's a need for an announcement, is an indication of sabotage being suspected.

The US subs could dive to 100 FEET (not the video in post), says 100m, THAT IS NOT CORRECT)

Yet this chucklefuck just goes about disclosing national security details to a foreign national because he's a blowhard and a narcissist. He doesn't give a damn about the safety of our . He is completely unqualified to be Commander-in-Chief.

A mysterious golden orb that may be an egg laid by an unknown sea creature has been discovered on the ocean floor off the coast of Alaska.

The smooth object with an intriguing hole at the centre was found at a depth of about two miles by a remote-controlled explorer.

Another image using the "step" term I mentioned yesterday, in this case its title being "2-Step Space Station Rocket" from 1952. It's an illustration by Jack Coggins for a book co-written with Fletcher Pratt. Both straddled the line between illustrating/writing for science and science fiction. Coggins in particular did covers for Galaxy, F&SF, and Thrilling Wonder.

He was also into other bleeding-edge forms of transportation, as shown in the second pic.

The cover of a book called "Prepare to Dive! The Story of Man Undersea". It's listed as being Written and Illustrated by Jack Coggins. It is monochromatic blue/black/white and shows a diving sphere, a blueprint of what appears to be an early submarine, and a scuba diver.
