March 31 was already significant to me because that's the day in 1998 when I helped #Netscape Navigator become #OpenSource.
Now this day has a whole new meaning for me as a #transgender woman. And it's my first #TransDayOfVisibility that I celebrate publicly since coming out to everyone on June 21 of last year.
To all my #trans siblings, I see you. Even if complete visibility isn't possible for you right now. You still matter. You're still loved. And you're still trans. Never doubt that. 🏳️⚧️🫂💖
you can live to get old ok? just so you know. I know that's not terribly big to anybody but us, but I think it’s important to know when it may not feel a given. time passes and the world is sometimes shit but it's also kind and surprising with decades of this wonderfulness behind me and more to come.
Trans people are mappers, and hackers, and cartographers, and have always been a part of the OpenStreetMap community.
The OpenStreetMap project is creating a freely licenced map of the world, based on how things actually are, based on how they act, and appear, not based on what some government says. OSM is trans positive.
for trans day of visibility i would like to point out that kitsune tails has multiple trans women in lead roles for development. kitsune tails is a queer as heck 2D platformer reminiscent of super mario bros 3, and you can wishlist it here: https://kitsunegames.com/kitsunetails
Let's talk about Natives on this Trans Day of Remembrance, like Kauxuma Nupika (c.1780-1837), an Indigenous AFAB Kutenai who divorced his Canadian husband and then declared himself male. As a trans Native, Nupika became both a warrior and prophet, predicting the arrivals of Europeans to Kutenai lands amnd trying to forge peace between nations like the Salish and the Blackfeet
wanna give a trans gal a nice gift on trans day of visibility? do you enjoy the work i've done with FediPact? the rad instance i've set up? the cool clothes i DIY together? my pirate radio station, vantaradio? my awesome videos? my amazing selfies? my posting generally?
well i'm unemployed, job searching, was recently kicked out of the place i'd been staying for years, and am surviving solely off donations for the moment so if you wanna support me anything helps me keep being able to do all those cool thingies!!!
On my vandalism walk, one guy with a dog said “great job!” as I put up a “Pride” sticker and a woman stopped me and asked for a “Human” sticker. I gave her that and a trans coloured red panda. #TransDayOfVisibility
I try not to venture onto the birdsite, but I thought you might want to see #Biden's #TransDayOfVisibility statement that has Republicans losing their minds:
Death of the divine, 3 days in the underworld, #resurrection, & a promise to look over and protect us. A story told 4300 years ago.
Yes, I'm talking about the goddess #Inanna, her descent into the underworld, death for 3 days, & resurrection by 2 #trans people who rescued her. Inanna, filled with gratitude, promised to be there for us, always. Inanna, with power to turn man into woman, woman into man.
Enheduannna, world's 1st known author, high priestess of the moon god in the city of Ur, wrote of Inanna & of trans people in the world's oldest known written works. She celebrated us. There's good reason to believe she was one of us.
On this #TransDayOfVisibility, this is the resurrection on my mind. And given the millennia-long genocide trans people have endured, & the fact that we have a day of visibility, I'm thinking of our own resurrection, of our community.
For my contribution to #TransDayOfVisibility, I once wrote a big, emotional blog post about the unique suckitude of being #transmasc. I sat on it a bit and realized that it could basically be summarized in two charts.
On #TransDayOfVisibility, I'll say this: I've had four friends transition over the years. All four surprised me when it happened, so stereotypes of "how #trans people act" may not be helpful. And all four seem much happier, more confident and relaxed, and more "themselves" after doing it. Beside the fact that it's none of my business, I respect their happiness.
moss can be monoecious (one plant having both male and female reproductive organs) or dioecious (male and female reproductive organs on separate plants). dioecious plants can switch gender from female to male or male to female
