Five former Memphis, Tenn., police officers were charged Tuesday with federal civil rights violations in the beating death of Tyre Nichols as they continue to fight second-degree murder charges in state courts arising from the killing.
Craziness. On our trip to Memphis last week, we wandered into this quaint little boutique in midtown called The Wren's Nest. My wife and daughter set about trying on French dresses and such, while I wandered about idly, trying to entertain myself.
As I poked about the shelves, I came upon a display of four extreme-level custom keyboards and I've never found such an out of place treasure, completely out of the blue!

In the summer of 1947, a woman walked into a drug store in Memphis, Tennessee, to drop off film to be developed when she realized she had one exposure left.
She noticed a young boy outside the drugstore and asked him to pose with his bicycle so she could finish the roll and turn it in.

Pearson is one of two Black members of the #Tennessee legislature who were ejected in April by the racist Republican supermajority. He was immediately reappointed on an interim basis by the Shelby County Board of Commissioners, pending a special election to reclaim the seat.

John Hurley and Ronnie Wilkins wrote the song in 1968 with Aretha in mind, but #AtlanticRecords boss #JerrtWexler gave it to #DustySpringfield who was recording in #Memphis at the time. That's the version most remember.
Aretha recorded it the next year. I love the song and both interpretations.
