  • In the forest, choose a branch that has a nice shape but is not too twisted. Here from grey alder (Alnus incana).
  • Cut it in half using a coping saw.
  • Use a gouge to hollow out each half so that the branch, when reassembled, forms a pipe (inside diameter < 12mm for the moment).
  • Leave to dry for a few months.

Anyone have any idea what the best sort of paint would be for a woodern gun handle.. Basically something with the following features:

  1. appropriate for wood
  2. exceptionally good wear resistance (since ill use it a lot)
  3. not a stain, should be in bright colors
  4. if needed should be compatible with a clear over coat to "seal" it

Brass cast little sculpture of a wood cube showing tunnels carved by a woodworm. Of course the tree was already firewood when I found it, I only cut it into a rough cube. And the woodworm was long gone: Wherever you are, I hope you're OK, it was nice making this collab with you.
