Are there any good "feminist" #anime out there? It doesn't necessarily have to have overt philosophically #feminist themes (but it def can), just anime that have well-written, well-rounded leading women characters.

A lot of the anime I consume has mostly hypersexualized women characters (I don't go out of my way for that, it seems like it's just kind of a staple of the medium). For instance, I really like shonens, but they can be super fan-servicey. I'd like to shake that up.

I know there are some great Miyazaki characters, but other than that, I'm not aware of many others. #Recommendations are very welcome.

🧵 Few accounts are signing up to Mastodon, despite the constant stream of apocalyptic announcements coming from Twitter.

I think this indicates that we're in a period of consolidating what we've built so far, rather than seeing lots of new people arrive.

Season One of Mastodon is over. The cast is established and most of the major plot lines are here. So where do we go?

Mastodon is good at:

Harassing anyone who sells things for a living (art commissions, jewelery, etc)

Discussing FOSS, niche tech interests, programming, networking (data, not social)

Providing a home for people who thought Twitter was too loud (and fashy)

Yelling at people who thought Twitter was the right volume but too fashy.

Some of the things Mastodon is really really good at are hostile responses from people concerned that Mastodon will recreate any part of any other social media that they did not personally enjoy.

Masto is good at:

Providing finely curated experiences

Giving a voice to very cool but very niche experts and projects

Introducing people to new software they would not have seen otherwise like Linux

Providing a SM experience for people who don't want ads or pop culture

Growing small, close knit groups

Watching Twitter's death spiral is just sad. I mean yeah, it had tons of issues, but the fact that so many communities and movements are going to be broken/fractured because of this is depressing.

@BlackAzizAnansi It's worse knowing that it was intentional. There are whole communities, whole exchanges that simply won't exist in part because no one can agree on where they should now exist.

On the other hand, posts like this one attract all the most annoying MFs who gather to whinge about how they never liked Twitter in the first place and how anyone who isn't on Mastodon is morally inferior

So that's great for my block list here

So I wonder how much of the 'splainy character of this site can be traced to the lack of a QT function.

I swear everytime I post something, I get people "helpfully" replying by explaining the point to me. Maybe that urge could be channeled into talking to their own audiences if there were only a QT?

@cliffwade I had one in my first build, back in 2016, when i was certain I'd neeeeed it.all the time.

After i finished ripping all my CDs to my SSD i never used it again.

When i rebuilt the PC in 2019 i abandoned the idea. Haven't missed it. Subsequent alt/secondary builds don't have one either.

Wife followed suit.

i have an external reader on hand "just in case" but that MF has cobwebs by now.

I promised more pics of my ! Built from scratch from acrylic plates,, always in progress, and surprisingly reliable, the SaltFighter V5a is the closest i get to feeling like a shonen protagonist.

I built it from scratch in 2014 and have been iterating on it since, swapping out parts Ship of Theseus style.

With each new game i learn i add artwork of my main to a button. It's a symbol of where I've been. Who I've been.

The recommendations are pricey, but much like Desktop PCs, it will always always be viable (and likely cheaper) to buy a used stick and modify it to your liking/needs

Someone out there is ready to give up on their fighting game dreams. Buy their dead dream for cheap
