From the Republican perspective, this election is not actually about policy or governance. It's about the GOP's project to change the American form of government from democracy to autocracy.
What do you propose Israel do to eliminate the threat from Hamas?
Yes, they probably could and should try to be more surgical. This would trade palestinian civilian lives for (probably fewer) additional israeli military ones.
@Ardubal@0x1eef@ErikJonker@geopolitics From a purely strategic viewpoint, solve the political crisis by permitting the creation of a viable Palestinian state that gets buy-in from Palestinians and renders Hamas' view untennable, then kill them as and when you can.
Great piece, @aristeon89 ---I seem to recall a poli sci professor telling me that, bitter enemies though they were, the KDP and the NSDAP (Nazis) had a shared interest in logjamming the legislature, and tacitly cooperated in that effort until it COLLAPSED. (cue Deja Vu machine.) Do I have that right?
@YusufToropov@uspolitics@geopolitics@politics@politicalscience absolutely. The NSDAP and the KPD didn't want parliament to function, they wanted to destroy the whole system. They were two sides of the same authoritarian coin. Moreover, the conservatives enabled the far right.
Lots of interesting, and often forgotten, lessons.
@Jigsaw_You@geopolitics How many more sons of Russian mothers will be forced to die for the Kremlin Fuehrer?
When will he leave his palazzo the way Mussolini had to, or the way Hitler left the Reichskanzlei for the last time?
“#Russia was and is too weak to have ever conquered even half of #Ukraine, let alone achieve the kind of maximalist goals that #Putin possessed, and we see now that the #Russian economy cannot even produce the kinds of weaponry needed to hold on to 18% of the country.”
@anderspuck@Jigsaw_You Biden said we don't need F-16 right now. But I urge him to engage those Su-35s with R-27 missiles, maybe he survives to tell the tale. Maybe he won't. So the good idea would be those AIM-120D and MBDA Meteor, and something that shoots them
