People need to stop worrying about what #Hasbro#WotC is doing to #DnD. #RPG, at its core, is a very simple thing: rules, dice, paper, pencils, people, time and space, and a lot of snacks and beverages.
The genre transcends its progenitor. Your rules need to govern how to describe a character, how to describe the environment, how to resolve conflicts, and how to handle rewards/progression/improvement. All of it can be and in fact is made up.
#Hasbro was always going to be a very poor caretaker of #DnD. #TTRPG gaming is done best when it is done with the primary intention of making a good game, not with the primary intention of making a profit.

#RPGs were always meant from the very beginning of #DnD to be mostly #DIY, just like D&D itself started.

It contains the most important bits of the framework, enough that you need never spend a penny, provided you are willing to supplement that framework with an active imagination (which really, is the first requirement to play, after all!)

Spells are of five different colors: white will storm the opponent with little soldiers and angels; blue will annoy your opponent to death like a Mrs. Umbridge lesson; black will raise zombies and throw sickness to your enemy; red will make you breathe fire, summon dragons and spawn goblins; green will summon giant beasts and make them even bigger.

I think the one thing we have all learned from #WotC this years is that corporate controlled creativity, even when done by good people, isn't nearly as good as what people come up without that company overlord telling them what to do.
Let's continue to support the smaller folks of the #ttrpg industry. Those are the ones who still care about the hobby beyond just dollars.
