Hold callus in your hand.
Catch abrasions on knees.
Prepare skin for laceration.
When it comes, cradle it.
Gaping wounds don’t appear
overnight. Reassure it, aside
from the callous of the world,
it will always have a home
with you, as it weeps.
Went to #Continuum16#c16Reboot and spent so much time around writers and ideas that I wrote an entire 6,000 word short story over the course of the weekend.

#WritersCoffeeClub May 20: When did you first know you wanted to be a writer?
Can't say there was a time when I consciously thought this. I have kept a journal for 30 years, had some CNF stories published, wrote a couple nonfiction books... but it's only been in the past few years I accepted the title of "writer."
#WordWeavers May 1: Introduce your setting as if it’s a character in your story.
The Greater Cascadian Megalopolis was born from the need to house the population of the Pacific North West but leave the bulk of the continent free of humanity,"re-wilding." #WordWeavers May 21: Do you consider how your MC's appearance may contribute to stereotypes?
Yeah, of course. To do less would be unethical. Especially for me, a white man. I deliberately steer away from stereotype, and the result is a story that's lively and unexpected. I don't rehearse the same old thing, at least not when I can help it.
