This is the type of webcam used in recent laptops like the Dell XPS series, which only worked ootb with Windows and Ubuntu. This should mean it will be easier to guarantee webcam support across Linux distros again, soon!

Clearly aimed at gamers but the best spec I could find for development.
I went #Lenovo#Legion9 (max), rather than #Dell for the first time because the spec, and the fact my last Dell is faulty after 6 years (whereas my previous 15yr Dell is still perfect).
Lenovo support is poor, outsourced, unhelpful and knows less than I do.
Windows 11 was the only option, so no Ubuntu drivers. But ok, except the trackpad so far, USB devices on order.
I have a newish, well-used Dell Inspiron 5301, 8GB RAM, pretty sure it has an 11th Gen i5. And a newish larger than stock battery. Brand-new keyboard and trackpad.
I'm hoping to sell it, collection only. I'm located in the East Midlands, UK. It currently has Windows 11 and drivers installed, but I can install any OS you'd like.
Well I ran out of battery halfway through the hand install, so several hours of recovery later I can boot into #guix fsvo. Where are all my other bootable partitions though, and will I be able to tolerate #GNOME long enough to learn to live with it? These are the questions. Stay tuned, rat-fans.
