Wondering about recording all the food we eat that we have grown, foraged or harvested ourselves.
I did it a couple of years ago and found it was good to see how much we did provide for ourselves & was sometimes a reminder to check the freezer.
If you’re not interested -Feel free to mute #GrownForagedHarvested as I’ll try and remember to add it each time.

🇬🇧 Since the #cccamp23 's secret motto seems to be #solarpunk (and I'm all for it), we need a hashtag for the German #gardening (as in "grow your own food") community to find each other and exchange ideas here on Mastodon.
Why German? Well, it makes a difference whether you grow food in America or Africa or, well, Germany. The weather, climate and soil conditions and the native plants and bio diversity are quite different.
I'd like to connect to other people, who grow their own food in Germany.
🇬🇧 How do you label your plants in your food forest? I used to make laminated labels. But after 3-4a they start breaking. Then I have some plastic loops written on with Edding. But the writing has washed off after 1a.
I've never gotten over this. #Quince @ Pete's Frootique, for $3.99 ea. You think Apples are expensive, these aren't as big. I don't know why they are so expensive, they are difficult to use, they aren't edible like an apple, they are extremely hard, usually peeled and cooked into Jelly.
I know fruit trees don't grow like the parent, from seeds, but I keep wondering if these giant varieties would produce from seed? I'd invest $4 to try.
Adding 2 new #SnapPea varieties to our #FoodGardens this year. Royal snap(deep burgundy) & honey snap(pale yellow) - both are edible raw or cooked. I have 6 of each in my starter pots & transplanting them into beds today.
My delayed #SaanichOrganics seeds vid will be up later today 👩🌾
So... I've been back in #yeg for a week and honestly I'm just depressed. Neverending #fires everywhere, people having to drive 15hrs to get to emergency centres. Absolutely unreal, and yet it isn't.
On top of that, my fave summertime hobby, #gardening, is dead, since I simply cannot be outside anymore due to the #mosquitoes. I got nine bites in twenty minutes last week and the following days were hell. They bite through clothes and bug spray 🧵 1/x
It's amazing how quickly fungi appears. Yesterday there were a few scattered around this wooden planter in the garden, today it was fully surrounded. LOADS of them.
Fortunately they are very friendly, and hope you all have a lovely day.
Hi, I'm very proud of this first harvest from 3 plants. There are still quite a lot of unripe peppers left. It was my first time growing them starting from seeds, and I'm really happy with the results and everything I learned on the way....
Recycling out
Cosmos deadheaded
Clematis trained
Sweat pea seed pods gathered
And a few random radishes munched. They never did make it as far as the kitchen 😂
Time for a cuppa ☕ #Gardening#GrowYourOwn#Life
These are the 2 pots of #hostas that I use as #edibles - the others I don't harvest for cooking. Those ones are split & put into different garden areas. If you enjoy asparagus & endives - you'll enjoy cooking & eating young hosta shoots too. They taste similar to those veggies.
Today, March 21 (or rather tonight) is the spring equinox 2023. I celebrate end of winter by starting this years count down of the 91 days until the summer solistice, documenting gardening and spring/pre summer progress.
This is what it looks like today … #sarasspringcount23
