How do I get back the standard layers option in the top box

cymplecy,
@cymplecy@fosstodon.org avatar

I decided to launch a VM and install so I could show everyone what I was talking about but the default doesn't look like what I had at all :(

I think I've lost the plot here! :)

I SWEAR I used to have useful Layer options written in text like Duplicate Layer, Anchor Layer etc in the top pane

off to libregraphicsmeeting.com soon. Speaking about opentype and maybe a desktop font service. Also meeting up with other GIMP people.

This is a #watercolor painting I did a few months ago but hadn't share, until we bought a scanner here in #Greece. It arrived today, I scanned the painting under #Debian #Linux without any issues (or additional drivers), and I fixed the colors with #Gimp. It's the first time I use The Gimp for my paintings (I've used The Gimp on and off since its inception, but not for my artworks). I've been using #Photoshop instead for my collages and paintings, but I stopped my #Adobe subscription a few months ago. It's all #Foss now.

My desktop computer is 10 years old, and the CPU just isn't up to it anymore. I don't want a gaming system, but I don't want a overprices bottom of the range tat either.

I need something that will run , drive a 4K screen, be fine for editing pictures in , and doesn't need much local storage, that's what 1Gig and is for.

Some of the small form factor PCs looks sensible, e.g. Bee-Link. Suggestions?

Today, I had to fill in a form to send to my insurer. I opened it with Document Viewer and filled in the various fields without any problem 🙂

Unfortunately, at the end of the document, we have to write our name and sign, but the application doesn't offer any options for adding text and inserting an image 😬

m_j,

@gnomelibre

+1: It should be proposed in the Document app.

Another app useful to edit is .

I OFTEN use for editing PDF (I lose less time in a lot of use cases).
I did, for instance, to mask or blur some parts of official documents I had to send to an administration this week.

So, I don't really do online subscriptions. But since @bitwarden is FOSS and has a real cheap pro account option, I pay for that, even though I never use the pro features.

I try to donate a bit to other FOSS stuff too, but not nearly as regularly, even though I know it's possible to set up auto donations.

I was wondering, could other FOSS stuff use this same model, would it be easier to give regularly if it was framed as an account or membership or something?

@forteller@tutoteket.no avatar

Like, would you be more likely to sign up for a "pro account" or a membership or something like that for for example , , , , , or any other FOSS tool you use regularly, than you are likely to set up an automatic recurring donation – even if the status didn't actually come with any extra features or perks of any kind, other than being a member and supporting something you love?

If you found the price reasonable.

Is there an extension for that does the 'magic cut out' thingy much better? Literally MS Paint does that super well now (granted I'm sure it's AI) surely there's at least something that won't give me the crusty edges

Today, I accidentally came across this older article from @itsfoss and learned, you can actually also use @GIMP for taking screenshots. (file > create > screenshot)

It''s pretty cool if editing is necessary since it opens the image in .

Olstinden Mountain

Olstinden is a prominent 675 m high mountain in the south of the Lofoten Islands in Norway. We saw it from the car on the way to the next campsite, and I just had to stop and take a panoramic photo.

This panorama was created from two photos.

Can we just gush a little about #gimp - particularly the one situated in the #flathub #flatpak beta repo.
This whole window is unintrusive. The title and window controls are just sort of there, at the top of the window. A standard titlebar, toolbar in a single column to the left, and on the right grouping toolkit dialogues on the top and project management dialogues on the bottom, all surrounding the canvas.
It's more cohesive, more compact, and gives focus to the actual image itself... one sec

and bobs your uncle. Remember to #shitpost responsibly and with no ill intent.

A #gentleman #shitposter is not a #fuckboy and the distinction should be made that a good jest, a good hardy-harr should not be at the expense of others when one can more easily lay into their subpositions and narrative with a nudge, a wink and a little jig to signify the the culmination of the jape.

Thanks and love goes to @futurebird for her weekly #ant adventures.

PS: #GIMP is awesome.
