Because I work with a demographic that bears the scars of religious #indoctrination. #ReligiousTrauma Syndrome refers to losses one suffers as part of a rigid, #authoritarian religious group - and the ADDITIONAL losses suffered upon #losingfaith & having ties severed from the group. Losses: #Identity, community, support, friendships, family, worldview, purpose, etc. Significant multiple #losses largely not recognized by outsiders. #exchristian

@youid itself is a verifiable credentials generator for the #NetIDTLS protocol.
NetIDTLS (a TLS Client Authentication Protocol Tweak) can offer an additional #Identity#Authenticity protocol sitting alongside “rel=me” — for instance.
The huge original innovation of WWW was to allow anonymous FETCHING to information (unlike FTP, which required login to a previously authorized user account at the server.)
However, POSTING of information in the WWW was not meant to be anonymous, since it would be done by the website owner, who could be identified through the official IP registration records.
@mike oooohhhhhh. That reads very similar to the requirements spec in my head for #identity across the #fediverse. The fediverse would be a much more usable, and useful, and diverse, and (in practice) feature-rich, and innovative, and competitive place if everybody implemented something like this! Kudos to you!!
#BWI#airport will lessen your hassle of getting on a plane in return for your agreeing (you actually have no choice) to #facialrecognition - they scan your license into the db - "check" verify your #identity - which is BS. The claim is that they do not keep this profile, but of course they do - they profile at most airports in the US, and the data goes upstream. The #surveillancesociety has been here for a very long time folks.
#Verification problem on #Twitter that #Mastodon easily solves with website verification. You could just go to their profile click on the verified link and check that it is the genuine website of the account owner.
I'm increasingly getting the feeling that one of these days I need to reactivate LID -- Light-Weight Digital Identity -- my entry into #identity and #iiw created more or less by accident in 2004. Then folded into the larger #OpenID movement. Some of its more interesting features were adopted by other identity protocols over time, but some others are still unique and would be very useful now that the decentralized, user-owned, social web is waking back up.
We managed to avoid the worst of the birdsite and found a supportive and stimulating community of practice on there. But with all that potentially about to change, we hope to recreate and expand that community here.
