Phone zap OSHA to fine Dang Dang Death Camp for working Efraín López García to death! We investigated another farm worker who died of heatstroke and found inaction by OSHA. We need to quickly pressure them to do something!
A question was recently asked why Americans aren't protesting about Climate Change. I can't speak on behalf of my fellow Americans (and really, where I live in Brooklyn is different from, say, Texas), but I can speak for myself:
I want no part of a climate movement where #landback is not part of the conversation
We did have rallies but they were coöpted by elected officials who are part of the problem
Finally #reading Woman on the Edge of Time by Marge Piercy. Consistently startled that it was published in 1976. Feels extremely relevant. So many things things touted as new ideas in contemporary #SFF--queer communities, #LandBack ideals, and centering marginalized perspectives--are all here and have existed woven into story form for nearly 50 years.
Imagine that everyone complicit in working workers in South Florida to death were to sit down for a banquet. Who would be at the head of the table?
The investment funds Blackrock, Vanguard, and Wellington own the largest stakes in Sysco $SYS working for their shareholders. Browsing their top shareholders, we find the tech companies, the pharmaceutical companies, Big Ag, other banks, and the military industrial complex. No surprise, the oligarchs we know by name. These bankers would be sitting next to them at the head of the table, lapping up their scraps.
As farms across South Florida continue to exploit those hunted by the immigration Gestapo, do not limit yourself to raging at those on the ground. Capitalism is destroying this world, creating the very heat that is killing these workers. Capitalism makes class traitors of us all and some wholeheartedly embrace this. Capitalism thrives because of nation states and borders, dividing the people with militarized borders. But it shall fall.
Resistance to a proposed lithium mine at Peehee Mu'huh, in so-called Nevada, wildfires, heatwaves, floods, and an Indigenous seizure of oil tankers in Peru in this special environmental episode of System Fail.
I had my goodbye meeting with my writing mentor this morning. She loves my new short story, a #LandBack revenge tale called “The Tupilaq” inspired by my battles in Kitchener over ecological destruction. I entered it in a cli-fi contest. Not sure it’s what the judges are looking for, but I think writing contests should be looking at #IndigenousFuturism , don’t you? #Indigedon@waterlooregion#Indigenous#WritingLife@indigenousauthors
For thousands of years, the Klamath River has been a cornerstone of #Yurok culture, providing its people with a bounty of #chinook salmon, #coho salmon & #steelhead trout.
“The site — a three-block area Berkeley designated as a landmark in 2000 — will be home to Native medicines and foods, an oasis for pollinators and wildlife, and a place for youth to learn about their heritage, including ancient dances and ceremonies. (1/3)
"Approximately one-third of the Indian Act pertains to land resources and the #environment. The imposition of western resource management practices in place of traditional land stewardship practices over the last century and a half has effectively continued what the #Canadian government set out to do back in the 1870s, which was to remove #IndigenousPeople from their lands and assimilate them in order to pursue resource development." https://www.nationalobserver.com/node/39045

Native American land acknowledgments are a performance of 'White guilt'
A land acknowledgment is when a company, organization or community makes a statement acknowledging that the land their event is taking place on once belonged to an indigenous American tribe.
Comedian Brian Bahe [Tohono O'odham Nation] says its a trend that needs to stop.
I had a dream this morning that I made cross-stitched twee plastic-canvas-grandma-style holiday ornaments that said stuff like "Land Back" and "Herring Protectors" and "Respectful Foraging"; I'm as white as Wonder Bread otherwise I would totally make these IRL #LingitAaniGuest#LandBack
Look; if you don’t support #LandBack, you probably don’t understand what is actually being proposed. #Everything I have read and heard has been very reasonable and fair. The only folks talking about revenge campaigns are #WhiteSupremacists trying to drum up #fears. The movement is co-axial with a lot of the #ideas in the #Ecological and Green movements. It’s a #decolonizing measure. It has the potential to benefit lots of #people, including non-Natives, given that many of the proposals would dramatically improve air and water quality and increase access to food across economic class lines. These folks have good ideas. I am asking you, politely, to just, take a look
