The state I live in (South of the US) is pushing a law to ban the mask in public for "health reasons".
This spring I have been so miserable because of the allergies that by necessity I decided to wear a #mask outside again despite taking strong medicine that won't allow me to be safe outside.
There is also a deadly pandemic going on but who cares I guess.
If I wear a mask that is to protect my health and also others.

It is almost funny to find out that trans people are more likely not only get covid, but die from it, or get worse outcomes - like long lasting disabilities.
If you care about trans people, and are an ally...a thing you could do to support us is to wear a good mask (N95/FFP2+). Protect yourself and others. It is the compassionate thing to do.
Today it happened. A fear I have had since the pandemic started....
...I sneezed inside my mask.
The horror. The ick.
But I still kept it on for the whole way back home, and endured the heat, the stickiness, the sensory overload - all because I don't want to get sick or give spread sickness.
Masking is caring. Even when you got snot all over your face. :P
Any suggestions for how to minimise aerosols getting to 8 month old baby on long haul flights and in airports? #CovidIsNotOver#RSV#Flu#Measles Too young to #mask. Can you get a N95 grade muslin or bassinet cover? Would just a physical barrier of a light muslin still be better than nothing? @SiouxsieW@pezmico Thank you for any tips! Plz boost for more input.
Next verse, same as the first. Monthly blood test. Head #phlebotomist is wearing a #mask – below her chin. She pulls it up when I check in, same as last time. Younger nurse again wears none. No other patients there when I was. #WearAMask
Also alt-monthly doctor's visit. Neither receptionist wears a mask, nor does the doctor. No other patients encountered. #CovidIsNotOver
Scheduled for my semi-annual #pulmonary function test next month. Ah, the joys of breathing into – and out of – tubes other people have. Best I can manage is scheduling for first appointment Wednesday, four days after the other day tests are done.
Went into the store yesterday. Not that many maskers (standard for the past year at least) but what I did notice was even the ones wearing a surgical #mask, had them as well-sealed against their face as possible. Baby steps I guess. I'm going to assume cost factors in as well as the lack of good info from leaders. #CovidIsNotOver#Covid
We're a species of ignorant primates with a superiority complex only out powered by our self destructive tendencies.
Whatever people knew about fascism in 1939 we know so much more now. One thing about fascism is it's inherently, almost definitionally, self destructive. Yet at any given time 12-20% of the population of a democracy prefers it.
We compare #covid to a cold when its more similar to HIV.
Getting close to the ideal disposable #mask for source control in (my) children. A modified KF94 with cord locks to help secure it more firmly plus contoured nose bridge pads to reduce reliance on an adequately bent nose wire.

Last week, my mom tested positive for Covid for the 2nd (known) time.
In case you haven't read my previous threads, my family back in the Midwest doesn't #Mask up in public or test regularly. Basically, living life like #Covid doesn't exist/treating Covid like its a cold.
I frequently send them masks unsolicited to at least make sure they have them on hand. Thankfully, my mom wore one to church on Sunday because she felt "off". She tested positive later that day, and I'm hoping the mask kept her from spreading it to other churchgoers.
Our kid watching Superbowl asked "Dad, why is nobody wearing a mask?"
I don't understand why my pre-teen gets it, and the majority of the country doesn't.
Our personal risk appitite is moderate. We eat out at restaurants, and may go maskless outside, or even inside with a few friends. But at school, and pretty much any crowds, or inside public spaces, we #mask.
Yeah, fogging glasses is annoying, but it seems a ridiculously cost-effective step in mitigating risk.
If you are attending a Conference and not wearing an #N95#Mask or better, you might as well be logging into an unencrypted webpage with a password... while you're at Defcon.
