Un truc tout bête si comme moi vos écouteurs intra ne durent guère plus de 6 mois, mettez des ressorts (de stylos usagers par exemple) aux extrémités. Résultat, j'ai ces écouteurs bas de gamme depuis plus d'un an, je cours même avec, ils n'ont pas bougé. Je me dis qu'il y aurait bien des efforts à exiger des constructeurs pour améliorer la #durabilité...

I'll share how we investigated this topic through making a website that was designed to support 10 years or older devices, by drastically reducing the energy use of that website. En l’occurrence, ce fabriquant annonce 3 ans de durées de vie normale et ensuite incinération (pas de recyclage possible).
En tout ça me conforte dans mes choix de composants en alu : moins cher, plus durable et une différence de poids négligeable.

Machines taking our jobs is nothing new.... I'm watching The Twilight Zone episode "The Brain Center at Whipple's" from 1964 - which people are replaced with computers, but the owner of the company is soon replaced by a robot -

La domotique, ça peut être super utile pour automatiser des trucs.
Dans ce domaine, deux écoles : faire soi-même (ce qui suppose un peu de matériel et de savoir-faire technique), ou la solution vendue fonctionnelle, toute prête.
Le défaut de cette dernière, c'est quand le fabricant décide de stopper le service, rendant le matériel aussi utile qu'un caillou.
My phone is now 6 years old. It still has all the performance I need and probably will for years to come. But it hasn't received an update for years due to capitalism. Therefore, for security reasons, I should have replaced it years ago (can't afford to though). There should be laws against this kind of fabricated bs obsolescence. #smartphones#capitalism#obsolescence
Another act against programmed #obsolescence with a friend's #iMac, which was in perfect condition but hadn't had macOS updates for a few years and so couldn't have the latest software (thanks golden prison), which was annoying for a web browser (as an example).
As she no longer had any specific software needs, just office software, a bit of web and video playback, I installed @elementary for her and she's super happy, it's even weird for her to have regular updates 😅
