They're now disguising this warmed-over, reductionist, cod-psychology bullshit as 'colours' to flog the same tired old shite to a new generation of clueless HR managers.
I'm a cis, straight, white male. I've never experienced any sort of discrimination that I'm aware of. But I know when not to volunteer for it.
Don't give anyone an excuse to not put you on a project because they already have enough "blue" people.
Jill Biden has again tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. Antivaxxers immediately acted as if her getting the disease proves that vaccines are useless. This says way more about antivaxxers than any other topic.
How Scientists Meghnad Saha, J.V. Narlikar Rubbished Claim of Vedic Roots of Modern Science
“If superior knowledge in astronomy, aeronautical engineering, etc., is available in the ancient texts in Sanskrit, why isn’t the ISRO using them? Can (S. Somanath) show one piece of technology or theory that ISRO has taken from the Vedas and applied to make a rocket or a satellite?”
the type of person who has objections to the use of typology (such as Myers-Briggs types) usually has more than just factual objections to it. they have a personal distaste for it.
when you have a personal distaste for an idea, you tend to look for ways of dismissing or criticising it.
if you like an idea, you tend to be more willing to accept its flaws and emphasise the good parts.
the same is true of people. if you don't like someone's vibe, you will look for reasons to criticise them and emphasise the bad parts. if you do like their vibe, you'll accept their flaws and emphasise the good parts.
I find this interesting at the borders of what is considered "science".
Science is full of "at best this is a bad model" - but the bad model can be extremely useful.
Yes Florence's and Enneagram and Myer-Briggs doesn't stand up to the scientific method - but they can be really helpful for inward reflection and growth.
"Psuedoscience" is term used by weird purists that aren't very good at thinking scientifically imho.
Dr Russell Barclay: ADHD & Lack of Play - Further Refutations of Jordan Peterson
"such a position has no scientific standing, is worse than wrong, and is morally offensive given the voluminous research on the neurodevelopment and genetic nature of ADHD"
Ayurveda and the Lucrative Business of Pseudo-Medicines in India
Patanjali offers medicines for all possible diseases. The company is worth at least 6 billion euros. But for many scientists, this empire is built on deception.
Une lettre ouverte à la médiatrice de Radio France concernant la désinformation chronique de Caroline Goldman, promotrice de la psychanalyse, une #pseudoscience.
I have a very distinct memory of working in Barnes & Noble where we had a book called Grain Brain basically trying to convince people that wheat was a neurotoxin (it's not). And realizing that the book was actually classified as self help instead of diet.
Which basically tells me that even by the extremely flimsy science of diet books it wasn't up to snuff.
I'm hoping #MaintenencePhase does an episode about that nonsense some day.
So just for yucks I looked up the book summary and hooo boy I think I have a #pseudoscience bingo.
The biggest red flags for me are "spur the growth of new brain cells" and "smart genes"/"genetic destiny" and I'm sure someone who knows more about nutrition can find a lot more.
And I think it bears repeating we had this book in self help, not health or even diet. Which I think is very revealing.
#publicationday
With a wonderful team, we navigated a lengthy and unusual editorial process over a year to publish a resounding refutation of the sensational claim of a comet, then asteroid, exploding to end the Hopewell culture. rdcu.be/diUfH
Note there is no published reply. The reply was rejected by @SciReports
It took way more time and effort than it should have, but we have done our part to combat #pseudoarchaeology and #pseudoscience. Please help us share this refutation as widely as the original, false narrative was shared.
#ClimateChange#GlobalWarming#FossilFuels#Economics#PseudoScience: "Financial institutions often did not understand the models they were using to predict the economic cost of climate change and were underestimating the risks of temperature rises, research led by a professional body of actuaries shows.
Many of the results emerging from the models were “implausible,” with a serious “disconnect” between climate scientists, economists, the people building the models and the financial institutions using them, a report by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and the University of Exeter finds.
Companies are increasingly required to report on the climate-related risks they face, using mathematical models to estimate how resilient their assets and businesses might be at different levels of warming."
I'm not at all surprised that #fascists use #pseudoscience to argue against medical treatment for trans people. I'm surprised and disappointed that corporate news media fall for this. Then again they fell for the pseudoscience used to argue against climate change.
Stop the witch-hunt against vaccinologist Peter Hotez!
Fight for Free Speech and truth in science!
Fascists stalked Hotez at his home on Sunday. He regularly receives antisemitic and antivax death threats. He is publicly vilified by Steve Bannan, Joe Rogan, Elon Musk & RFK Jr.
Why?
*Led efforts to develop a low-cost, patent-free vaccine for COVID-19.
*Public opposes right-wing pseudoscience.
*Calls proponents of anti-vax propaganda neo-fascists
"Paper #books for non-fiction which pile nicely on my coffee table until I return them to the library after receiving two overdue notices, ebooks for fiction, both for audiobooks but no charts or diagrams, podcasts but only snarky takedowns of #pseudoscience and #rollerderby rules explanations, videos bookmarked but never watched"
