Out of curiosity, the Amstrad CPC 6128 version of Rogue (1987).
Fun, but hard to play when you're used to the MSDOS one. You have to place the red cursor in the right direction, then Space to move.. Not practical, & the cursor doesn't position itself precisely.
The arrow keys would have worked just as well, respecting all the original controls.
Nach mehreren Jahren Freizeit-Entwicklung könnt ihr nun mein kostenloses Videospiel #Roguefallen in einer ersten Version 0.1 für Linux und Windows herunterladen und spielen.
Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup is a really great free online roguelike. You can choose classes (in the screenshot attached below, I went with minotaur) and pick a weapon (I grabbed a mace). you can play at the link below, all you need to do is click the button, pick a server, register, and you're in.
Also, here is more about the game, and you can download a copy to your machine if you don't want to play the online version: http://crawl.akrasiac.org/
Loop Hero from Four Quarters and Devolver Digital is one of those games that though seemingly simplistic ends up all coming together in an addictively complex way. Story, art, mechanics, and music will have you coming back time and time again.
Prepare yourself to step into the world of *band, a vast collection of text-based dungeons crawler games.
I can't tell you how this particular variant of Angband is different but I can tell you it's pretty addicting. Like Nethack or Diablo the randomness of the dungeons keeps you wanting to explore just a bit further.
The controls are somewhat complex but it features an extensive in-game manual to help you out.
Emerald Woods, the chill farming, crafting, building, and exploration #roguelike where you can die. improving the mysterious Genco stations including locked locations. Releasing this soon! in the meantime try out the current version at https://slash.itch.io/emerald-woods#screenshotsaturday

Halfway to potentially find the "Amulet of Yandor"?! We all want it! There were some very, very hot moments!
But, huhu.. I totally forgot the name of the scroll after reading it!! Very helpful!! haha
I've made good progress, but I'm afraid I'll miss food.
Oh yes, NetHack of course, I play it too! :0) https://www.nethack.org
It's more complete because you can choose your class and race, have a dog or a cat, useful for treasure detection or combat.
Okay!
Some of you got the "Amulet of Yendor" one day?!
A tip for the next game party would be to hang around in the 1st levels to level up since the mobs respawn randomly. But watch out for the food in this case.
I'm not one for "New Year's resolutions", but I am one for overly ambitious projects.
For 2023, Project365 is "One New Game Per Day".
Given that I have 634 unplayed games in my Steam account and {mumble} unredeemed bundle Steam keys, there's a reason my unplayed collection is tagged "Pile of Shame".
I'll pin this to my profile, and give a brief summary here each day (or x, if I miss x days due to work or stuff).
I'll play 15-30 minutes of (at least) one new game I've never played before (or played less than 15 minutes of). I'll give every game at least 15 minutes, even if I hate every minute of it.
I'm also open to suggestions; if you reply to this thread with a game, I'll schedule it, or tell you what I thought of it.
One of the things that's come up is that I have a bunch of games that I've played once, and not touched again.

Everspace turns out to be a 6DOF roguelike space shooter.
The worst thing about it is that it's been sitting in my pile of shame for almost 9 months before I discovered it before work this morning; I was very nearly late to start work.
I've always been a fan of space combat games. From Descent, and X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, to Star Wars Squadrons, and Chorus, many hours and more than one joystick were lost as I spun and turned and tried to shoot before I was shot.
A roguelike space combat game? Turns out it works, really well.
I have yet to see if it will works with my joystick and throttle, but even with keyboard and mouse, I feel like I'm going to lose quite a few more hours.
