A lot of people think they can't be garnished but they don't really know what that means.

They've seen videos or read information telling them that certain income sources, like social security benefits, can't be garnished by a debt collector, and they think that makes them safe.

An entrepreneur -- who doesn't yet want to be publicly identified -- ran a session here at why he's pivoting his company out of the Self-sovereign Identity / Verifiable Credential space after years of trying to make a business there.

It was extremely interesting and I hope he will publish his lessons learned both for the community and any new technology market really that has similar challenges.

P.S. Much resonated with my reasons why I never got deep into SSI myself.

@LeftistLawyer do people remember when President plump defunded Social Security and Medicare?

At the end of 2020 he waived the payroll taxes that fund these things, and he was going to make it permanent if he was reelected.

And I’m kind of glad he did it because that was what convinced a couple people I know who were going to vote for him not to do it.

Unfortunately I think two of those people have probably switched back because they are angry at the drug shortages caused by Biden’s FDA & DEA.

But I think it’s important for all the people who have become disabled by Covid to remember that President plump literally defunded Social Security and Medicare at the end of 2020.

Hi there everyone, please boost. I've been sending this around in different places to indevidual people, but I figure, now that the book has been out for a while, its about time I put it up publicly. My dad wrote a book some time ago that is essentially a resource guide that helps people with disabilities find jobs or look to find resources to maximize there benefits. It is a step by step guide on what to do, how to find jobs, how to maximize your SSI/SSDi benefits, and how to get on the job market. its completely free and available for anyone to use. If you follow this guide, I am confident that you will be able to find what you seek job-wise. I know I am a little bit biased because my dad wrote it, but I feel like its worth putting out there anyway. There is no advertising whatsoever, we aren't looking for any sort of things in return, in fact, my dad even put his own personal number in the book for those who follow the steps and read the book to call him so he can help you find a job as well because he's helped many many people find jobs who have disabilities, his most recent success being a person with a High School Diploma and nothing more going from making less than $30000 to now making just over $100000 at his job. here it is:
https://www.respectability.org/people-with-disabilities-at-work/ If you read the book, please feel free to reach out to me so I can also get you in contact as he's in Pacific time whereas I am not and its better if I text him first to let him know someone will call him, because he usually doesn't answer random calls especially with his job and his other stuff going on.

As someone who is disabled it is exceptionally depressing to be unable to find adequate work. People think that Social Security is this "Kush" easy out to paradise. Its far from it. $750 a month is all I get post Medicare premium coming out. That's literally my car note and a weeks groceries. How are people supposed to survive on this?

Some sites make it appear to be a bonus, extra payment. It is not. It is your check coming in early.

Don't count on two checks. Next SSI check is February 1, 2024

Persons with one of these conditions are approved almost immediately once a diagnosis is verified, bypassing the long wait for determination
