Well, I didn't figure that January would be a good month for solar power.

But I am curious if my usage is much higher or much lower than the average household. 🤔

Don’t ever let anyone tell you TX is an “oil” state given their massive wind power generation and now news like this re: grid solar (this doesn’t even include rooftop solar generation!):

The total number of insects tripled, while the number of native bees increased 20-fold. The most numerous groups of insects observed were beetles, flies and moths.

As an added benefit, the researchers found that pollinators from the solar sites also visited soybean flowers in adjacent crop fields, providing additional pollination services.

Giant Solar Farms May Warp Weather on The Other Side of The Planet

if those solar panels were in the Sahara, our simulations show this new heat source would rearrange global climate patterns, shifting rainfall away from the tropics and leading to the desert becoming greener again, much as it was just 5,000 or so years ago.

Australia’s task is clear: build more wind and solar. LNP’s task? Anything but wind and solar

https://reneweconomy.com.au/australias-task-is-clear-build-more-wind-and-solar-lnps-task-anything-but-wind-and-solar/

The LNP is a bizarre cult. To quote the article: Nuclear in Australia is just an example of the LNP’s ability to sell anything to their base provided it doesn’t look “left”.
The resurgence of interest globally in nuclear power has made hordes of irrationally pro-nuclear techbros happy. But they're falling for the "anything but lefty" cult-thinking of RWNJs who politically polarise equate energy & environment and have decided renewables are "left" and therefore bad.

OK one more post for the morning: a teeny bit of good news. Cornell CALS (College of Agriculture and Life Sciences) has secured funding and is launching an agrivoltaics research program!

"The path to solving the climate crisis requires expanding renewable energy projects to achieve our clean energy goals; however, this effort has historically harmed our local food supply, often taking prime farmland out of production and putting farms out of business. The new Agrivoltaics Research Program at Cornell CALS will help change this dynamic by pioneering strategies and technology to facilitate vital collaboration between the renewable energy and agriculture industries."

A solar PV production peak of 3 GW on 29 December in the Netherlands...
This spring, we'll probably see our first 20 GW peak (from over 25 GW installed capacity). If the power system allows it; it's more than the country's peak demand.

When this documentary was made the car in it was already vintage. Today we are discussion if it is possible to build such a thing and call it revolutionary.
