Stonehenge under gales & a lowering sky today, sheep grazing on it. Prehistory is more important than ever at times when the roar & clamour of now seems to drown us. To stand with the megaliths and barrows, their cultural urgency in Neolithic Britain dissolved into monumental uncertainty, relic & grazing status, is to understand the absurd futility of lines on maps.

I just had a vision that showed me how people would move massive stones and arrange them in circles like and other celestial circles around the world made out of megalithic stones... they would burn trees on top of the frozen ice tundra and it would melt the water on the top layer enough that they could slide the blocks along without causing damage to the earth and then as it recedes in the springtime and it melts, the stones would fall into place

The cover of The Economist this time is a shipping container ! Sadly just a ring of trilithons not a full linteled circle—perhaps we expect too much. Who remembers another shipping container henge from years past?

(I keep wanting to quit . I keep trying to quit Clonehenge. But then things like the dahlia trilithon and this happen and I end up coming back!)

Having driven past Stonehenge on dozens of occasions, we decided to stop and have a proper look on on our return from the west country. Once we recovered from the shock of the ticket price, we found it to be a fascinating place. The clouds and the accompanying calls of the many crows and rooks added something suitably atmospheric.

There’s a Mastodon account for Stonehenge replicas!

@clonehenge

Now do you have a Geoguessr map of all the Clonehenges though? 🤔

clonehenge,

@jon New answer to this question as Japanese group Trident has done a music video at the replica at the Gunma Observatory there! I love it although it is not nearly as intense as yours. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aBxxUVufQrs
