Happy y'all! I dusted off the high school yearbook for this one. Some decent memories but as I was turning the pages looking at other photos, I was reminded of how much I hated those people. 🤣

Today I've been thinking about my late Dad. He always gave such wise advice. I always try to think about what he would say or do in many situations. Decided to share a pic for My Mom was gone a lot. She had a gambling addiction (Bingo--not funny, she would spend our food money). Nights were spent just me and my Dad watching TV, or listening to the stereo. He was the nurturer and cook. Mom took this photo. We were probably listening to music and rocking in his La-Z-boy.

Welcome back! This is our fourth design critique thread. Today, we're taking a look at iPhoto for iOS, launched in 2012. Despite its short lifespan, it delivered visual design craftsmanship in spades.

Here's my collection!

The purple Game Boy Color was my first ever game system, followed by the purple and then the blue SP. The original DMG needs some repairs and replacement parts, it was a garage sale pickup years ago.

I use the a lot nowadays, but I still try to make time for the . The mini handhelds can be a nice change of pace as well! Do you still like old school handhelds? Let me know!

Here's my physical Pokémon game collection. My first was actually a Pokémon TCG cartridge, but I traded it away to a childhood friend many years ago. Among the GBC games, Silver and Crystal need new save batteries. Blue, to my shock, still holds a save.

Also pictured: my EZ Flash Omega and Acekard 2i flash carts with many Pokémon games on them. The rest of my collection is entirely digital. Do you still have your old cartridges?

Sunset Geometry
Happy Thursday! Who liked geometry at school? Actually, I did. This is full of just the sort of lines and shapes that I grew to love in those classes. A sunset picked these elements out perfectly, at the same time putting a rosie glow on the school - a colour I don't imagine many kids asssociate with school.I hope this brings back some good memories of fun times.

I only grew a beard briefly on two occasions in the Navy.
If you grow one, you have to keep it, since your ID has to be changed.
So, on trips, we did this, but this one I was the only one I kept.. for a year

A year later, I started getting seasick and dizzy in heights. The next 16 years were hell, at sea.

My father wanted to be the next Walker Evans or Robert Frank.

My mother remembers it differently.

"Instead of paying the dentist, your father spent a lot of money on an expensive camera so he could take pictures of people without their heads or feet."

I think this is 1988, not long after I got contact lenses. Recollections are hazy but I recall this was taken somewhere near to, but not actually Birmingham, and Pop Will Eat Itself being involved. Clearly in a pub where waistcoats were essential wear! 😅

An Un-Anniversary Celebration

We got one of the old enamel percolators like my parents had when I was a kid.

Anyone else remember enamel percolators, metal Coleman coolers, and the 500 pound canvas tent?

A metal coffee percolator it is blue with white spots, and on a propane burner.

For , on this day in 2016 we installed a rack to hang my bicycle on the wall of our apartment.

I miss this plain old acoustic bike sometimes. It served me well through high school, college, law school, and my wanderings afterwards. It wasn't a cargo bike, but I learned to attach panniers to it and carry groceries. I awkwardly strapped a case of oranges to the rear rack a few times. A good steel bike is hard to kill.

I left it at my parents', and my dad gave it away recently.
