This week I became aware of toki pona, a very minimalistic, small, simple (120 words) conlang that's been around since 2001 and is apparently pretty popular (as such things go). https://tokipona.org/
since i dont want to use discord anymore, can anyone suggest me some #matrix... servers? guides? mobile and #linux desktop clients? i'd like them to be about linux, #opensource, #anarchism, maybe even #tokipona. memes are desired also
Hi folks, I want to learn #TokiPona, but I haven't been able to find pu — the first book (Toki Pona: The Language of Good, by Sonja Lang) in English anywhere except Amazon.
Weirdly, my local bookstore is able to find it in other (less helpful) languages like Esperanto, just not English. It also can order the new dictionary. Same with Bookshop.org. Why is this?
Is there a good alternative way to buy pu, that doesn't make Jeff Bezos even richer? (I know other toki pona resources exist online.)
@nyrath I believe #TokiPona was more a failed attempt to prove #sapirwhorf , hoping that language limits would limit thoughts. No bad words = no bad thoughts. But that would mean that without language there is no thought.
More fun with #TIC80 and #TokiPona. #TokiNibblers now has lives, failure states and level progression! Got to flesh out more of i'ts dictionary... implement building subsequent levels logically... and then enemies.
Ideally I want it two introduce three new words, and review two old ones, every five levels or so. Instead of the current behavior (pick a random word from the dictionary).
More edutainment fun with #TIC80. "Toki Nibblers" however is getting pretty freaking recognizable as a game though. Still need to implement a lot of basics though, like dying, lives and enemies. #tokipona#gamedev#tokinibblers#tinygames
Hey, I'm blinry! I create digital tools and games, and digital art. I mostly use Mastodon to share my joy about things I learn or create. Welcome, everyone! :)
I love my communities: the Chaos community, Jugend Hackt, the Recurse Center.
I've been on masto quite a while now, so I think an #introduction is overdue.
Moin. I am a (soon to be finished) computer science student in Germany. My interests are #FOSS#functionalProgramming and #gamedev. I focus on 2D puzzlers but am open for more. I am also interested in human languages. Especially conlangs like #TokiPona. If able, I go climbing fairly regularly.
Sadly I am not very good at expressing myself so if I say something controversial, take it with a grain of salt.
For a workshop about the minimalist constructed language "Toki Pona", I attempted to put the entire grammar on one page, and the entire vocabulary on the other side! What do you think? What questions do you have as you're reading it? https://morr.cc/toki-pona-cheat-sheet/
