I feel like if cops need to hand out special "don't shoot me haha" cards maybe you should just not shoot anyone until there's a reason to shoot them or maybe just not have guns if you can't not shoot people.
Also, I imagine someone will eventually be shot while reaching for this "don't shoot me" card, Philando Castile style.

Since people are talking about Kent State, Ohio, 1970, it's a good time to talk about Jackson State, Mississippi, 1970.
Similar situation, except there was no active protest, just a bunch of students hanging out. The mayor of Jackson declared a riot and called in the pigs. Someone threw a glass bottle, not at the pigs, but they still opened fire. Phillip Gibbs, a student at Jackson State, and James Green, a high school student who was walking home from his job, were murdered by cops. Many others were wounded.

A woman tracked down the #LAPD officer who stole her debit card when she was in their station. She got photos of him using it at a Home Depot and somehow convinced the LAPD to start an internal affairs investigation. The officer in question has been arrested, and hopefully, the police learned a thing or two about investigating a crime.

In america your 5th amendment right to remain silent is not granted automatically. If speaking with a cop if you remain silent without explicitly invoking it as a right that silence can and will be used against you in a court of law. It is only when you explicitly verbalize you are invoking your right that you gain this protection!
