Last night, a dream came true - I saw and captured the Aurora Borealis (aka Northern Lights) over Rhossili Bay. I've had this location in mind for years if the conditions were right. And last night it happened!
Oh hi! I'm looking to make connections with other people, possibly then eventually meet and do some expeditions together out in the real world at some point. Also, would love to see what others are doing.
We had a super fun (surprisingly tiring) afternoon watching the #eclipse. The big zoom lens, telescope, and solar filters worked great. Neighbors came out and we watched the sun spots get covered up. The telescope had enough detail to see the craggily edges of the moon. Milli enjoyed the sun and observed some diffraction from inside. One neighbor said “you have the coolest gizmos on the block!” All things considered, it was a lovely experience, no regrets. #Astronomy#Astro#Eclipse2024
The Milky Way over the main island of Helgoland. To the right is the harbor, where ships are often loaded late in the evening before heading out early the next day to the nearby offshore park for repairs.
The Belt of Orion, the Great Orion Nebula, the Flame Nebula, and the barest hint of the Horsehead Nebula. Rigel is hanging around too. 30 January 2024. #AstroDon#Astronomy#Astro#Space#Astrophotography
This evening I have witnessed a fireball over Newcastle upon Tyne. An absolutely spectacular sight. Very bright green. Appeared from a fairly low elevation. Descended from west to southwest in little more than a second. Occurred at 1728UT 13 January 2024. #AstroDon#Astronomy#Astro#Space
