In Germanic , like English, this derives its name from its vivid blue hue. But is the color associated with in other languages?

A 5K run in the setting summer sun and a light breeze, followed by a super refreshing, ice cold smoothie made with frozen afterwards is hard to beat to end the day. 🏃‍♀️

I’ve added a new deterrent to the netting over my with three new colourful reflective pinwheels. It’s an annual struggle to protect those lovely yummy berries.

Easy picking in the patch today. Just cup your hands under a clump and gently roll them free with your thumbs.

I thought I'd cheer us up a bit and make a blueberry pie from this week's crop. I'm no baker in any sense of the word, but this recipe:
https://www.jonesfamilyfarms.com/kitchen/recipes/elisabeths-double-good-blueberry-pie

is about as simple as it gets. I just use a store-bought pie crust (usually graham cracker) and the whole process takes about 15 minutes. After it cools and sets, we top it with whipped cream and stuff our faces.😀 It's a good crop this year, so I expect many pies.

About 8 cups of freshly picked blueberries in a vintage yellow kitchen strainer.

'Cluster of Blueberries with Leaves' is my latest botanical artwork created in soft pastels. I think it turned out well and will make some pretty greeting card designs. It will make some great décor prints as well.

35 ish years ago, I was a single mom with two kids. We lived from paycheck to paycheck and were surviving. We budgeted carefully with very little fun money but we loved to garden together.
For my birthday, as a surprise, my kids earned enough money, on their own, to buy me three blueberry bushes. They rode their bikes across town to get them.
We decided we would plant our blueberries in the ground when we found our forever home.
I thought I lost them during the drought.
All three plants are back, and the new growth is beautiful.
Summer will have homegrown blueberries this summer.

@norcalgrandma Congratulations. I planted Blueberries a few years ago. The first 2-3 years saw very little growth. I applied some natural fertiliser last year & the results are already visible, vigorous Blueberry bushes coming into bloom.
