Last night my co-authors and I turned in the final chapter's first draft for our book, Practical Detection Engineering: A hands-on guide to planning, developing, and validating threat detections. Still got a few rounds of technical reviews and copy edits but definitely a big milestone for us.
When performing competitor analysis we found that despite the numerous amazing blog posts from industry experts, there wasn't a complete book focused solely on detection engineering, so hopefully we can fill that gap for the field! This little function allows me to turn Substacks into ebooks, which I just transfer to my ebook reader to read slowly over coffee at the cafe on a Sunday. This is a ritual I look forward to each week.

I think I may have found the solution to reading my blog feeds on an eBook reader.
Get a Boox. It is an eBook reader that allows you to install apps. Think a tablet, but with eInk. So, I can install not only the Kindle app but also Scribd, and Feedly, my RSS reader.
And the showroom is in my neighborhood!
#Boox will help me take full advantage of my Scribd subscription! (Have always been reluctant to read novels on my iPad.)

I also do fiction #editing, print #bookDesign, #ebook design + #coding, #coverDesign, graphic design … an eclectic assortment of fields to have gained years of experience & expertise in … great for cofounding @tsi, a bootstrapped #smallPress, but at times makes covering the bills a bit of a challenge. Most writers are not experts in IT or formatting and would rather spend time writing. Self publishing is really self marketing. Traditional publishers are really marketing companies, few do their own printing, traditionally a Press. Volume paper printing is now mostly China and Eastern Europe. For small numbers of paper copies it’s best value to use Lulu or a similar Print on demand (POD) company.
