🪐 Somewhere in Texas there's a place with an 18-minute communications delay.

👨‍🚀 Kelly Haston is one of four scientists spending 378 days living there, in a simulator.

⬇️ Rick Edwards sent her some questions to find out what it’s like in there and how she’s coping with limited contact with the outside world.

Interesting article in Scientific American discussing barriers to permanent human colonization of space... with a great writeup about our annual Analog Astronaut Conference we put on at Biosphere2!

Murchison Minerals has been served an eviction notice not once, but twice by the Innu government for Uashat mak Mani-utenam.

The area the mining company states it is “eager” to explore is in Innu territory. Despite the “sheer number of high priority targets” identified and the “huge potential” of the Nickel-Copper-Cobalt project in Quebec, the Innu are determined to keep Murchison out.

  • Discovering a rock cairn on a beach is something I always find both interesting and comforting.

I am interested in the design and time it must have taken someone intrepid explorer to erect.

I find comfort in them...they have been used for centuries as trail markers.. and are known by various names around the world. By following them, hopefully all explorers will find their way home. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/homeward-bound-karen-cook.html

The Luna-25 spacecraft, en route to the Moon, suffered a major glitch today. That could mean 0 successes for Russia's entire post-Soviet deep-space program.

It's a remarkable collapse from the early breakthroughs of Sputnik, Venera (Venus lander), and Lunokhod (Moon rover) missions.
