So for those of you, who do not know about this, there is an accessible app to play the lottery. It is called Jackpocket, and if you are on iOS, you can find it in the iOS App Store. When signing up for it, you do need to scan your ID your state ID that is, for this I had Assistance. Other than that, is completely accessible with voiceover you can order your tickets, check ticket results, and look at the games that are currently up for playing. Depending on what state you live in, you may or may not be able to play the lottery with this app, but I think it is really awesome and worth checking out!

From the climate impact alone, I wouldn’t touch Bitcoin with a bargepole .

“Bitcoin alone is estimated to consume 127 terawatt-hours (TWh) a year — more than many countries, including Norway. In the United States, cryptocurrency activity is estimated to emit from 25 to 50 million tons of CO2 each year, on par with the annual emissions from diesel fuel used by US railroads.”
(via Rocky Mountain Institute)

kkarhan,

@jd :bitcoin: is also a that doesn't add any value and it's only purpose is to commit and as well as by rich like ...

The least-worst coin is :monero: but only because it's developers actually do give a damn and designed it to be a system and not a tool for sociopathic assholes!

So has accepted a bet (on TV) by Piers Morgan on his ability to make the policy work before the election.

There are two major problems here:

a. it (unsurprisingly) trivialises the trauma that the are imposing on migrants...

b. at a time when is increasingly seen as a major social problem, it endorses that social behaviour.

Caroline Lucas (quoted in FT), points out: 'These are people’s lives they’re gambling over'!

'The purpose of tobacco industry investment in research is now clear: the tobacco industry utilised research funding to create doubt and controversy about research that showed how harmful tobacco was, and set out to create confusion when a scientific consensus had emerged. Research paid for by the tobacco industry delayed reforms that would have saved many lives and demanded impossible standards of proof before accepting emerging public health solutions. We know from an increasing body of research that gambling industry funding of research has similar goals and utilises similar methods.' | Tim Costello https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/aug/18/the-gambling-industry-gets-a-ringside-seat-at-the-university-of-sydney-research-centre

The ACT attorney general, Shane Rattenbury, who has previously described the gambling industry’s targeting of young men as “insidious”, said the club’s partnership with Tabcorp was irresponsible and an outlier in the AFL.
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2024/feb/21/greater-western-sydney-giants-under-fire-over-deeply-disappointing-tabcorp-sponsorship
“I am really disappointed to see the Giants strike this deal with the TAB as we need to see a reduction in the link between sport and sports gambling,” Rattenbury said.

“There is simply too much advertising during sport and young people, in particular, are significantly overexposed and are in fact facing saturation levels of gambling advertising. It’s not a healthy connection.”

as long as executives at and any other sports leagues are in cahoots with black-box gambling sites that can manipulate wins & loses with a line a code, they're the ones that should be RICO'ed into oblivion.
