This afternoon I watched the #documentary Hot Type: 150 Years of The Nation (2015), directed by Barbara Kopple, which oddly doesn't have a Wikipedia entry. But you can read about it. It was mostly filmed during the 2012-13 election season so it feels like a historical oddity now. Like, Romney specifically doesn't seem like "the worst" of America, nor does Obama seem like "the best." Our value system has been reoriented. Will The Nation be able to keep pace with that?
Now #watching Suburban Wildlife (2019) directed by Imogen McCluskey. It's an Australian #film about four friends coming of age after college. Specifically about their coming to grips with one of their members moving away.
I have a couple more teed up but I won't tell you what they are until I'm further along. I might end up skipping the last one.
Could all the fuckers selling #BlindDead DVDs and Blu Rays at extortionate prices just bleeding stop? I reserve the right to entetain my wife with undead Templars at an affordable cost!
📽️ Got my order of Shudder movies! 😍 I also got the Severin ALL THE HAUNTS BE OURS box set because it was on sale and THE GUEST on Blu-ray since I adore it & upgraded my DVD. Final horror movie tally:
-ALL THE HAUNTS BE OURS Box Set
-SKINAMARINK
-IMPETIGORE
-THE GUEST
-TIGERS ARE NOT AFRAID
-MANDY
For those of you who are into #physicalmedia (like I am), this whole month of November Barnes & Noble is having a 50% off sale on all #Criterion discs. I just ordered a bunch, from Eraserhead to The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou to Orson Welles’ Othello. Lots of good extras on them. #cinema#movies#film
My #DiabolikDVD order came in today!
So happy- I got all of these at GREAT prices during their Clearance sale and I had none of them on Blu-ray. It's going to be whole new experiences watching them! 😍
Here's what's on deck tonight from #physicalmedia shelves.
Currently #amwatching Zombie Diaries 2 (2011), a British zombie sequel #film.
Next up, Aventis (1992), directed by Vicente Aranda and starring Antonio Banderas, a story about a body from the Spanish Civil War, told mostly in flashback I guess.
Finally, I'll be watching Ride the High Country (1962), a Sam Peckinpah film starring Randolph Scott, Joel McCrea, and Mariette Hartley. It's another western about an aging lawman who stumbles into a quagmire of a mining scenario.
I'm normally a big physical media ownership person, but today I sold my copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which I still play every morning while I have my coffee, and re-bought it digitally so I wouldn't have to keep swapping it out for whatever game I was otherwise playing on my lunch break at work/during chill time before bed. The Switch cartridge slot is just too fiddly to deal with that. #NintendoSwitch#ACNH#PhysicalMedia
One of the only John Carpenter films I have never seen, so logically I had to own it when I don't even own copies of my favorite Carpenter films. Can't beat $1.98. #horror#physicalmedia
The biggest con doing the rounds these days is that #PhysicalMedia is obsolete. This is not helped by people being lazy and obsessed with 'convenience'.
The future is not one of progress, but never-ending landlordism as we will end up having to rent EVERYTHING.
I own a bunch of modern #dreampop albums on cassette through the Spirit Goth cassette club, but I really need to open up the wallet and try to invest in some historic dream pop and shoegaze releases too, it is really the perfect medium to listen to codeine haze genres.#physicalmedia
