I skipped last week's session, due to last Thursday's "events", but I'm looking forward to today's 2 hour session. This will be my 8th session & bring my cumulative total to 11 hours.
I've just plastered my mouth & chin in numbing cream, then covered it in cling film, in preparation for the spicy needles 😅
The case had been closely watched as an important test of whether bans on transition care for minors, enacted by more than a dozen states, could withstand challenges.
New #Introduction since I've gotten to know myself and my posting habits better.
Hi I’m Aranka, germanbased #transfem with a background in process engineering.
Shy, introverted and very gay thing with occasional sociable outbursts, stumbling through its #transition.
I usually post about personal (#trans) stuff, little projects and my most recent addictions (#baking, #drawing, #plants, etc.)
Intervened by regular mood-/lewd-/shit-/effortposts and political leftist stuff.
I’m very compassionate about music and art and anything that involves bodily expression. I do taekwondo, lift weights sometimes and ride my bike.
Regaining my once biggest passion #drumming that brought me through my teenage years and was once my livelihood.
Feel free to connect, expecially when -> :blobhaj_flag_gay: :blobhaj_flag_transgender:
The #TapestryOfAlternatives is this actual existing, fantastic project I learned about at the workshop, but I was using it just now in the wider sense of people joining up and building #Transition networks across the world. I see #Mastodon and the #Fediverse very much part of this - thinking of all the wonderful people i met here quietly living alternatives, possibilities #Permaculture#Degrowth#SolarPunk#Indigenous
Here is the main practical reason that developed countries have been reluctant to pay up on #ClimateFinance, #LossAndDamage, and generally helping developing countires: we owe a lot.
As in, thousands of dollars for every citizen in developed countries. Every year. Until 2050.
This paper spells it out, by country:
"The #compensation system is based on the idea that the #atmosphere is a #commons, a natural resource for everyone to use equitably and sustainably."
These are sums owed for atmospheric appropriation, and do not cover broader questions about the costs of #transition, #adaptation and #damages."
"We must also pay attention to large class #inequalities within nations. Responsibility for excess #emissions is largely held by the wealthy classes who have very high consumption and who wield disproportionate #power over production and national policy. They are the ones who must bear the costs of compensation."
Giving flowers: 💐 One of the nice things for me is being able to send surprise flowers to women around me as a pure thank you, like today
My wonderfully accepting hairdresser has been with me since Nov '21 and I am her first trans client. She is a Muslim born in Iran so not merely have I been on a journey, she also has been on a journey (of understanding) ... let's say we've shared quite a bit! ❤️ 💜
Her reply today is so lovely and of course we'll catch up in a few weeks. So look after those supporters close to you, the special ones, because omg you'll need them ✨ ✨ ✨ #Trans#Transition
Hello my lovely followers! Once again I'm asking for your help to donate/boost my bottom surgery crowdfund! Any amount helps a lot! Help me achieve 15% by this month? tyvm! <3 https://ko-fi.com/haileykaas
Tattoos are how I mark states of being and "staple" my sense of self into my body - the first one, the bite mark, is in a very real way the first baby step I took to transitioning. It was the first time I felt good about something about myself, and now, a couple years later on estrogen, and a bunch more tattoos (and even more planned), I feel good about so many things.
I don't think it's a coincidence that so many things that are counterculture or taboo in society are exactly the things that help people feel a sense of bodily autonomy. I'm sure there are links to capitalism here, but more deeply I think it's about jealousy and hate.
Jealousy from generational trauma that denied our parents and grandparents ad nausem their own (bodily) autonomy, so they projected that onto us so we wouldn't pursue it ourselves, queer or not.
Hate partially stems from the jealousy, but people are also taught to hate these things by many, many social institutions which demand obedience. Religion is one such institution for many, especially evangelical religions, but is not the only such institution. Class structures frequently use things like prohibitions or mandatory body modifications as a way of co-opting what would otherwise be a sense of freedom.
Bodily autonomy is dangerous to systems of control and obedience, because it's the root of freedom of thought, or at least that's what my years of doing trauma work have taught me. When you have time and ability to decide what to do with yourself, you start to form a deeper connection with yourself and others because it's actually safe to do so.
And I think this is sad on many levels. So, don't be sad go get a tattoo.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is probing an Austin children’s hospital following a video report of a social worker discussing transition-related care.
Any and all support is highly appreciated. Anything left over after the bills and basic groceries goes straight to top surgery fund 🐼 https://ko-fi.com/blackwood
Barroso is a region in northern Portugal, classified as world heritage for agriculture by the FAO - United Nations, one of the few left in Europe where sustainable farming practices are still the rule.
A canadian/british mining company called Savannah now wants to destroy it.
The opening the largest open air lithium mine in Europe, is already planned, and if we do nothing, about to start in 2024.
This will feed German and French electric car production, with a so called value chain crossing all Europe, up to the swedish regions where another war is ongoing, against ore mining and car battery factories.
They have been called lithium wars, and resistance is heating up.
We currently are waiting for the 31 of May, when the Environmental Agency from the government will make a final decision on the Mine, and unfortunately, a YES-GO is expected. There will be resistance!
There is this awesome doc by my friend, done after the Zapatistas were in Barroso: (ENG SUBS)
Although we know that historically Europe has been guilty in the exploitation of the worlds resources, it now is turning inside, selling it's own peasants and native peoples to the trans-nacional businesses. This in no way can be confused with historical reparations, as we do not wish to impose the brunt of the so-called green transition on any people's or ecosystems. The only option is De-growth and the end of consumerism and extractivism, not Green Capitalism and electric cars.
This just helps the fossil and gas economies to thrive, by on the one hand, not offering a real solution, and on the other, trying to create a mentality which says that opposition to green capitalism is reactionary.
The first series on my Substack, Opening the Black Box, is a detailed dive into what it was like to live through the #gender questioning process. We have a lot of accounts of what it's like to #transition and to grow up #trans but it seems like almost all of our accounts of people like me, people who hatched but had no idea before they did, are (ironically) comics.
"Fieldnotes on FlyingLess Conferencing:" Our reflection on European #STS conferencing via #train is published in the EASST review. This is an intervention to think about less energy-intensive #mobility forms for conferences. #transition#flyingless
