🆕 blog! “Review: Watchy - an eInk watch full of interesting compromises”
★★★⯪☆
The last smartwatch that I tried was some awful early Sony device with a locked-down ROM. The battery died after a day and I couldn't find the proprietary charger. It slurped up all my data. It was garish to look at. And it was expensive. The Watchy is the opposite in e…
For example, let's say I want to use a Fitbit. I download the app, enter my real height and weight, but I give a masked email, fake name, fake birthday, etc. I always use the app with a VPN....
'Like Killing Fields': Report Says Saudi Border Guards Killed Hundreds of Ethiopian Migrants
"If committed as part of a #Saudi gov policy to murder migrants, these killings, which appear to continue, would be a #crime against #humanity," said #Human#Rights#Watch.
Saudi border guards allegedly killed at least hundreds of Ethiopian migrants and asylum-seekers—including women and children—from Yemen between March 2022 and June 2023, Human Rights Watch revealed Monday.
After my last boost I thought I'd see if I could find a photo of the Sony Walkman I had in the #1980s. No. And that's with Google and Bing with numerous search terms. Considered looking for 80s Argos or Littlewoods catalogues scans but maybe later. What I did discover, though, is that there were a hell of a lot of Walkman designs in that decade.
That then made me think about the #Swatch#watch I used to have. I did find a photo of that, and it was called the Soto, apparently. Loved that thing.
🇬🇧 It's hard to find a mechanical #watch (with a dial) with an alarm function via vibration, so I went in a completely different direction and definitely more reasonably priced. I bought a #Casio#GShock GBX-100NS-1ER! 😎
🇵🇱 Ciężko o mechaniczny #zegarek (z cyferblatem) z funkcją alarmu poprzez wibrację, więc poszedłem w zupełnie innym kierunku i zdecydowanie bardziej rozsądniej cenowo. Kupiłem #Casio#GShock GBX-100NS-1ER! 😎
Curious, what's everyone wearing today? Let me see your #watch !!!
I've been working on this special #Seiko and it's up and running great, I even jeweled the barrel arbor to make it extra special. Now, I'm wearing it to get real-world testing to see how well/accurately it runs!
What's your watch? Does it have a story? Just looks cool? Let me know!
Apple fearing 'irreparable harm' from a ban on selling products containing elements they didn't develop and don't own - this is rich. If you can't use someone else's work without horrors paying them, design your own or completely rethink the product so the White House is banning them, not you.
I could be considerably more snarky here, but I deleted it.
Nice place to work. Some in management should have been running diners instead.
Humans are very good at anthropomorphising things. That is, giving them human characteristics, like ourselves. We do it with animals—see just about any cartoon—and we even do it with our own planet…
Does anyone have a watch where you get notifications from your phone, but lasts for weeks instead of a day (like a smartwatch) in-between recharging?
I have a Fossil HR, but the font is getting too small for my aging eyes, and I'm looking for other options.
What are the actual privacy implications of using a fitness tracker with mostly pseudonymous information?
For example, let's say I want to use a Fitbit. I download the app, enter my real height and weight, but I give a masked email, fake name, fake birthday, etc. I always use the app with a VPN....
