I read about the Tragedy of the Commons, thinking that it was centuries old. In fact, the version quoted nowadays is from the 1960s and has been largely retracted by its author. #tragedyofthecommons#wikipedia

Ministerstwo Sprawiedliwości wpisało ją do rejestru "agentów zagranicznych" (ros. иностранный агент, иноагент), a sąd parę dni temu potwierdził tę decyzję, albowiem organizacja rozpowszechnia materiały innych "agentów zagranicznych", takich jak Meduza, Mediazona czy Dożd´ (ros. Дождь).
The Akan #Wikipedia has been closed because...it's not an actual language, it's a language family. Instead, efforts have moved to Wikipedias in the #Twi and #Fante languages, the latter of which was just created today!
E' arrivata anche #Wikipedia nel fediverso con la sua istanza ufficiale! 🤟

Wikipedia :wikipedia: is a multilingual free online encyclopedia written and maintained by a community of volunteers, known as Wikipedians, through open collaboration and using a wiki-based editing system called MediaWiki -- at least that's what our Wikipedia article says (https://w.wiki/W).
There are currently 332 language editions of #Wikipedia (again, per Wikipedia) - we'll do our best to bring multilingual content, but we would appreciate help from Wikipedians involved in non-English language editions with suggesting content to post or translating existing posts.

My accomplishment for the weekend. New #Wikipedia article on the seemingly forgotten Colloidal gold #protein assay. It has some nice properties, and the reagents are well described still & commercially available (if you're willing to read between the lines!)
Another weekend, another #Wikipedia edit. This time I collated all the variants of the BCA assay that I could find. Nice that the original assay & its enhanced sensitivity variant are fully described. Sad that all variants sold since then are “proprietary” trade secrets! I guess selling secret solutions of mostly water to the detriment of scientific transparency, is just too tempting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicinchoninic_acid_assay#Assay_variants

I appear to have lost/unpinned my most recent #introduction post, so you get the extra treat of seeing a new one!
Hi, I'm Sammy!
I'm a software engineer, currently webdev ('full stack' is pushing it, CSS is an unholy abomination) but I used to do embedded/microcontroller (i.e. firmware for industrial machines) and control system programming (PLCs make me cry).
I work for the very awesome #Wikimedia Foundation, though I've been a volunteer #Wikipedia editor for a long time! ✨
Cora Taylor started a taxi service with her husband in 1910 (you heard me) which later became an autobus service, and then a full on bus line. He died in 1954 and she continued running the company. She is thought to be the first woman to have a chauffeur license in the United States. #wikipediahttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cora_V._Taylor
It’s time to do a proper #introduction post (it’s overdue). I work as tech writer and journalist and lately has been doing some content writing jobs as well. I volunteer at my local language #Wikipedia, and also happen to be a current math student.
My interests are quite diverse. I love to read about #science (especially #physics), #tech, and #maths (but I seldom talk about them in social media). I also love to learn about #history and #culture.
I will probably rant about Indonesian politics #idnpol from time to time.
When I was active at the wikipedia there were a group of other writers who would follow me around and mark my articles on women and black people for deletion. They marked my edits CN even when there was a citation. They reworded everything I wrote to minimize the contributions of minorities to history, and hint at theories of racial inferiority. I'd just go to the library and bury them in more citations. It was kind of violent TBH. #threads#wikipedia#moderation
