MS Paint gets its long-promised dark mode, along with other improvements - Enlarge / Paint's long-promised dark mode is now available to Windows I... - https://arstechnica.com/?p=1943942#windows11#tech
Four days ago, I had another argument with #Windows11 and swapped to @fedora workstation for #AndroidDev . Been so productive, everything just flows, no hiccups. #AndroidStudio behaving perfectly. The same hardware is so much faster too!
Self-respecting people who care about their #privacy have a difficult time choosing between #macOS and #Windows11, but there's a better option (GNU/#Linux)
I'm confused and speechless. Tried to run updates on my #Windows11 machine, a lot of them threw errors. Ran the Windows Update troubleshooter.
In the five minutes the troubleshooter was open, this laptop I've had for just over eight months but that I haven't used all that extensively went from full battery to 5%. And the troubleshooter seemed to not be doing anything. #Windows#Laptop#Tech#Technology#Update#WTF
Yet another step in the never-ending saga of getting #UnrealEngine version 5.anything to run without crashing or leaving AI characters standing like statues or not bothering to spawn a dozen characters or not displaying water or whatever else the developers have bundled for our development pleasure, I deleted everything in AppData for 5.2. I saw an error in the logs that should not occur with a Launcher version.
Since I mostly game on my Xbox now, I figured it would be a good time to try using #linux as my daily driver. I have experience with it and it powers the Plex server on my NUC.
I hated how #windows11 wouldn't let you have the system tray on a second screen, but Mint doesn't want you to have anything. So now I'm working on THAT. I've given up trying to get above 60hz on my 4k screen, I'm just glad it works at all right now.
And now the audio just hums all the time now, so I'll get to work on that next.
@chrisshaw You can bypass this in #Windows11 by registering the following user no@thankyou.com and type any password. Trust me I do it all the time setting up #Windows laptops onboard fishing vessels for work.
I just mounted my second #monitor at #work upside down, and earned a lot of weird looks by my colleagues.
The reason is simple: I just found out (after years of use) that my larger main monitor has a #BGR pixel layout, while my smaller second monitor is #RGB. There is a bug in #Windows10#ClearType that prevents differing settings to be applied correctly. So the only solution was to turn the other monitor 180°, making it effectively BGR as well.
But you can also do it within #Windows itself by running "Adjust ClearType text"
Keep in mind though, that while it lets adjust all your monitors separately, the settings of your primary monitor will be applied to all of them. Thanks #Microsoft. But I don't know if that's fixed in #Windows11#ClearType, so let me know!
