Excellent article why it's very cost effective to keep supporting Ukraine, this is the argument for the US , for the EU it's even better.

Immense power projection by the USA , carrier strike group with USS Ford already present in the Mediterranean, the USS Eisenhower will join them, they can easily fight all forces in the middle east if necessary, also they can fully control the airspace. Iran and/or Hezbollah will think twice before trying any major actions.

Thinking in scenarios, what would europe / NATO do if Russia decided to damage /destroy most undersea cables which are essential for our internet and networking in Europe? They have the undersea capabilities, it would not trigger a nuclear war. What would/could we do in response ?

Nobody will think this is a very extreme prediction " it’s conceivable that within the next ten years, AI systems will exceed expert skill level in most domains, and carry out as much productive activity as one of today’s largest corporations." , but as rightly states, we have to start working on governance and regulation.

My view is that in general will not cause massive job losses , it will change work. However in some specific niches jobs will dissappear. Translation is a good example.

Although Iran looks weak and Israel very strong i think Israel military planners are worried (as they should be) about Iran's response after the coming Israeli attack. How large will it be, will Hezbollah from Lebanon participate etc. They will not underestimate the uncertainty and chaotic nature of war i hope.
Let's not forget Iran's strategic position (geographically), they can seriously harm trade and oil supply routes for example.

Great article by O'Reilly, "You can't regulate what you don't understand",

Let's not forget Israel will never destroy the terrorist organisation Hamas by attacks on Gaza and/or by fully occupying it. Hamas can only be destroyed by offering the palestinians some alternative for their future, some perspective, which seems to be completely lacking until now.

The total failure or Arab countries in the region to support some kind of solution in deserves more attention. Egypt rather watches 1000s of innocent civilians being slaughtered then allow them in Egypt, for example in a UN controlled refugee camp. They are simply too insecure and instable themselves and are afraid Hamas will destabilize their regimes I guess.

The "good" news is doesn't seem to want to escalate in the fighting with Israel, also because US forces nearby will probably wipe them out quickly (my guess). Nobody else will come to Hamas rescue so Israel can execute it's military operations what remains a large problem, even if all plan succeeds, what to do with 2 million people, who will govern Gaza? Israel is responsible if they eliminate Hamas🤔 @geopolitics

The Mastodon timeline doesn't have any algorithms, so if you want to follow some developments/news it's a good idea to follow a hashtag with regard to the developments and pin it as a separate column in the advanced WebView.
