Governor Greg Abbott says Texas is installing razor wire on its border

…with New Mexico.

Texas also has:

The highest rate of citizens without health insurance

Second lowest primary care physicians in the US per capita

13th highest violent crime rate

Open carry laws

Laws against gender affirming care

The nation’s strictest abortion ban

Extreme voter suppression

Prayers over children’s lives

Ken Paxton

And soon: no interstate commerce.

Felipe_B,

@flexghost maybe the border isn't there to prevent people from getting in but from getting out

And of course he doesn't care about jail, he's rich even if hes not a billionaire he lives in the US, the rich cocksucking country, he's never going to go to jail even if he kills people in front of the judges

Alan Turing was a mathematician & cryptographer who was a leading code-breaker in the team that decrypted Nazi Germany’s Enigma machine during WWII. He inspired modern computing & what became AI.

Instead of being hailed as a genius & hero, Turing was convicted as a homosexual & forced to endure chemical castration. He died by suicide at 41 in 1954.

The British government didn’t apologize until 2009 & Queen Elizabeth II finally pardoned him in 2013.

What is the ultimate goal of privatizing public schools? To close public schools. To let the wealthy keep their taxes and create a libertarian dystopia.

If you can’t pay for your kids’s education, your kid goes to work. Thems the rules the privatizers want to live by, friends.

@jeffowski ironic considering libertarians were the first to open the once illegal free schooling for poor workers in the 19 century.

X (formerly Twitter) is reportedly worth a pathetic $19 billion, as stated by Elon Musk. Pathetic because remember, he acquired the service for $44 billion just last year. This implies that, according to his declared valuation, it has experienced a -55% decrease in worth within a year

However, I personally hold a different viewpoint on X's value. In my opinion, Elon Musk may have previously overstated its worth, and it seems he may be doing so again. It's worth noting that advertisers, much like Superman's aversion to Kryptonite, seem to be avoiding X: if a brand gets too close to X, it might kill them.

Speaking of high-profile acquisitions, do you remember when Microsoft attempted to purchase Yahoo for approximately $44 billion? It makes one wonder whether X will meet a similar fate and become the next Yahoo.

https://www.theverge.com/2023/10/30/23938969/x-twitter-valuation-19-billion-employee-shares

Felipe_B,

@atomicpoet so he's not paying his employees, 19billion is WAY too much for a company that earns 7 figures. Most likely it will drop to zero just before saying "OK we bankrupted so your salary is zero, anyway who wants to move to my new company Y"

: "I call them the Technocrats, in recognition of the influence of the technocracy movement, founded in the 1930s by Elon Musk’s grandfather, Joshua Haldeman. The Technocrats make up a kind of interlocking directorate of Silicon Valley, each investing in or sitting on the boards of the others’ companies. Their vast digital domain controls your personal information; affects how billions of people live, work, and love; and sows online chaos, inciting mob violence and sparking runs on stocks. These four men have long been regarded as technologically progressive heroes, but they are actually part of a broader antidemocratic, authoritarian turn within the tech world, deeply invested in preserving the status quo and in keeping their market-leadership positions or near-monopolies—and their multi-billion-dollar fortunes secure from higher taxes. (“Competition is for suckers,” Thiel once posited.)

Indeed, they are American oligarchs, controlling online access for billions of users on Facebook, Twitter, Threads, Instagram, and WhatsApp, including 80 percent of the US population. Moreover, from the outside, they appear to be more interested in replacing our current reality—and our economic system, imperfect as it is—with something far more opaque, concentrated, and unaccountable, which, if it comes to pass, they will control."

Felipe_B,

Technocrat was an old insult used by the students union on my public university, pointed at some professors who opposed getting funding from the government.

Now I think about it this the general way of thinking of the third world: I don't want to benefit from something that also benefits other people, we rather have no help

Who's going to be next? Carlos Slim, Bezos? Let's make one of Musk's sons to rule over the country and why not make it for life time, because fuck everything who cares right?
