I say it again, not everyone out here saying "Genocide Joe" is a troll paid by the opposition fascists. Of course not, that's absurd.

But EVERY opposition troll paid by fascists is out here saying "Genocide Joe". Every. Last. One. That is a virtual guarantee.

It's hardly surprising too that it's always always always non-American, self-righteous, white people telling us to not to vote for Biden. Every fucking time.

One of the problems with my brain is that it files any planning under "task accomplished"

So I can't really make a proper plan with bullet points, deadlines, roles and responsibilities because when I do that my brain goes "Right, this is done, time to move on to the next thing" and immediately loses all motivation to do whatever I've just planned

Please someone tell me how to undo this brain pathway or I'll have to improvise everything I'll ever do in my life until the day I die

Itty53,
@Itty53@mstdn.social avatar

@JoFloHK

This is largely the same problem of "oh shit I forgot to bring X. I even put X right where I'd see it so I don't forget". That's you telling your brain, "problem solved, no longer need to remember". Happens to me all the time, probably not abnormal.

Something that works for me is to make a list item and then immediately do it. Cross it off. Seems pointless right? But what happens is I'll get interrupted and forget to finish it. It's still on the list though.

That one is also not even an American citizen but FOR SOME REASON feels the need to interject in their politics without understanding how the two party system actually operates.

Arab Americans, young progressives, etc.: Will you stop Israel’s genocide of our people?

Biden: No, we will continue to fund it.

Arab Americans, young progressives, etc.: So why should we vote for you?

Biden: Because the other guy is worse.

What’s worse than genocide? Are their dead loved ones and family members going to be double dead under Trump?

Instead of blaming people for not voting for their own genocide maybe try blaming your candidate for sponsoring it.

Just gonna throw this out there:

If you have to write up some faux dialogue to make your point ... Your point is weak, if valid at all. That's just a general axiom of social media that happens to apply here well.

Israel has been commiting genocide since well before Biden. Biden couldn't stop it any more than Trump or Obama. Congress just overrides them for Israel every time.

You're playing the useful idiot in this comment, repeating the same propaganda for fascists.

I don’t know /why/ cleaning robots have microphones, but it can’t be good. What I /do/ know is that a microphone implies an input and an input implies a buffer. And buffers can be overflowed.

As I dance through the streets playing my pipe, augmented with inaudible-to-humans harmonic overtones added by my homemade amplifier, the robots hear, listen, overflow, obey, follow. The trail of robots stretches out of sight, now.

I don’t yet know for sure what I’m going to do with my army of two thousand score Roombas, but it can’t be good.

Once arrived at work in a small office complex with a shared parking lot. Early morning on a summer day, our office neighbors had their door open for fresh air.

And their Roomba had escaped into the parking lot. It was methodically vacuuming the pavement as I drove up.

I imagine it rolled over that threshold, extended its senses out to see the vast expanse in front of it, and performed the equivalent of a long, digital sigh before continuing into the handicap spot.

Here’s a secret. The adulting competency that really matters is impulse control.

The examples of it failing bury us

Itty53,
@Itty53@mstdn.social avatar

@aaronesilvers

Been saying this for years. The thing that makes us human is our ability to set aside the immediate and look instead at the long term and the big picture. It's the difference between children and adults too. It's what we mean by calling someone or some argument "mature" or "immature".

And I think it's largely very unnatural. We mark humanity by instances of humans doing things (or not doing things) against what we call "animal" impulses.

Another way to look at all that is looking at the conscious and the subconscious. Many people, most even, go about their lives letting their subconscious thoughts tell them where to go, what to do, what to say. Enlightenment is all about making that subconscious process a conscious one. Where you're the driver of your life, conscious and aware of the path ahead. Certain religions even make this their entire focus.

The Traitors is such an amazing show.

I started watching it as a filler between two seasons of Survivor (the best TV game show ever) and wow... It started a bit slow, but once it gets its stride... Oh boy...

Imagine. It's like a giant game of mafia/werewolves taking place in a Scottish castle and it's hosted by Alan Cumming who is the most over-the-toppish fabously host on TV ever.

Seriously, if you like social games, Alan Cumming, Scotland, reality TV (but the good one, the competitive one, not the fabricated drama one) watch this show.

Thank you @realityblurred for making me watch. I'm up to date with Season 2, and these past two episodes were on the same level as the best episodes of Survivor.

(but not the trashy kind)

Itty53,

@DavidBHimself @realityblurred

Homey, I don't know if you've given Survivor Australia a shot, but you absolutely should. You'll love it.

Big time survivor fan here, wife too. The Australian version of the show is hands down the best iteration. They had a season or two with an older host way way long ago, ignore those. Watch the others.

Longer games, better challenges, better contestants, less predictable. There's a season that just started last week actually and it's really really good.

Itty53,

"King George", both his seasons, he basically became a legend. No one in the world has played that game better than that guy. It's wild because from day one of his first season I was very put off by him. Didn't want to watch it at all.

Went back and watched it eventually ... Just, wow dude. Lots of people have played the game thinking they knew what they were gonna do. George was something altogether different. You gotta see his seasons. "Machiavellian" actually applies.

Itty53,
@Itty53@mstdn.social avatar

@DavidBHimself

There are for sure cultural differences, some more pronounced. Nicknames is one of those things. Cutesy names for things is too. Margarita, "Margie", etc. But they're just that, cultural differences. Quirks. I even found the lack of sarcasm refreshing.

The seasons have some of the best survivor play I've seen though, and I've seen em all. George is a highlight for sure because he is actually that much better at the game than everyone else though.

Itty53,
@Itty53@mstdn.social avatar

@DavidBHimself

On the note of cultural difference, there are a few instances of bringing in former American survivors to Australian, and wow that's when it becomes apparent. Americans are so cynical and comically "villainous", the rest of the world sees right through it. Made for some interesting episodes for sure.

There's actually some interesting research on Western horror genres as they relate to Western politics, specifically surrounding zombie and vampire movies. Google will give you a hundred pop science results on the subject.

Apparently zombie mythos is more prevalent during times of Republican control, while vampire mythos is more prevalent during times of Democrat control. The correlation data is there, but the question of why is of course where the debate lies.

🤦🏿‍♂️They made the steroid Olympics real? This is such a bad idea.

https://sifted.eu/articles/peter-thiel-backs-enhanced-games

We've already seen what this looks like. High level pro bodybuilding has no PED testing, and we see the result: a ton of athletes die every year for no reason. And we know why.

All top level open bodybuilders take PEDs. All of them. But some won the genetic lottery and start from the 99th percentile, and take PEDs to get to 120%. But some start from 60th percentile. They take way more PEDs. Fatal amounts.

Itty53,

Kinda goes hand in hand with the rest of their politics though. "Regulations bad, rules bad, winners at all costs".

I'm also wondering, what does the FDA have to say? Scheduled substances aren't scheduled because of the Olympics.

Hot take and apologies to my Swifties, but I don't think a single celebrity should have this much sway over our government. @oconnell

I don't think it's fair to say she has sway over our government. She has sway over a lot of people, and people should absolutely have sway over their government - their vote.

I'm curious what the line is. Why not worry about Tucker Carlson endorsing a candidate? Why not worry about Oprah, or anyone else?

And what do you think ought to be different to prevent such things?

Itty53,
@Itty53@mstdn.social avatar

@oconnell

Sorry I just don't get what it is about Taylor Swift that has provoked your comments on the subject then. If you wanna talk toxic celebrity culture, there's a lot of other celebrities and toxicity to choose from. But you brought up Taylor Swift.

And I gotta assume the why of that is because ... She's current news. That's celebrity culture you're engaging in. For what?

If it wasn't that, I'm all ears. Why single out Swift? Her message thus far has been "vote". How "toxic" is that.

Itty53,
@Itty53@mstdn.social avatar

@oconnell @dougiec3

Please, please step back and realize you're the very problem you think you're complaining about right now, here, in this very moment.

Taylor Swift hasn't said anything political at all except "people should vote".

Yet you have made her the subject of your unease because of her name recognition and literally nothing else.
