    Though the most successful founders are usually good people, they tend to have a piratical gleam in their eye. They're not Goody Two-Shoes type good. Morally, they care about getting the big questions right, but not about observing proprieties. That's why I'd use the word naughty rather than evil. They delight in breaking rules, but not rules that matter. This quality may be redundant though; it may be implied by imagination. (1/2)

Sam Altman of Loopt is one of the most successful alumni, so we asked him what question we could put on the Y Combinator application that would help us discover more people like him. He said to ask about a time when they'd hacked something to their advantage-hacked in the sense of beating the system, not breaking into computers. It has become one of the questions we pay most attention to when judging applications. (2/2)

Folks who might be looking to move from Windows to Linux: another option, if itโ€™s financially feasible for you and you donโ€™t want to mess with installing Linux, is to sell your Windows machine and buy a Linux one.

Yep, they exist.

Folks like @starlabs in the UK, @tuxedocomputers in the EU, and @system76 in the US sell Linux machines that just work out of the box.

@AstaMcCarthy @mauricepinzon @starlabs @tuxedocomputers @system76 Unless Iโ€™m missing something, frame.work doesnโ€™t come with Linux pre-installed and running (it only does that for Windows). You can install Linux yourself on the DIY model so itโ€™s more for enthusiasts.

@Vittoria @rimu Itโ€™s not an opinion, though, is it? It is a recollection. And the distinction is critical. The source is not opining about what Blinken said, he is reporting it.

So you can say:

  • I donโ€™t believe the source is credible โ€“ misremembering? lying? (Why? No one in this thread has actually given me a reason for this.)

  • A single source is unreliable by our standards (excellent, I love it: Now contact Blinkenโ€™s office and get confirmation or a denial. Thatโ€™s your job.)
