Anyone knows of a app that allows you to do drafts one or more ? (Not facebook - actual threads)
@feditips ? 🙏

Edit: to be more specific: I’d like to be able to create a thread in the app, so a sequence of posts (not just 1 post) that can each have text, images etc. and are in a specific order, and if need be save it and come back to update it later, and eventually post it.
Also, I am using iOS and desktop (Windows). If you check the comments you’ll see that Fedilab seems to allow this but for Android.

Thanks for all the input so far!

bitcrush_io,

@elduvelle @feditips Fedilab does this.

Okay. Today is the day. I'm going to migrate off of Chrome as my "daily driver" web browser. I was a Firefox user for decades until I needed a reliable and secure integrated password manager [Note: I'm NOT debating this. My life is already owned by Google in so many ways, passwords were the obvious next step.]

But ever since, it's been a slow descent into hell with all the bloat and shitty anti-privacy and anti-choice features, that I need to finally cut that cord. So - back to Firefox I go. Which means I need a password manager. So I'll be evaluating those next. Really I'd just love something that integrates with KeePassX. Anyway - wish me luck.

P.S. - This blatent "Chrome is just a platform to sell ads" prefs was the final straw

UPDATE: I have KeePassXC and the FF extension talking to each other and this should work fine. Still have to sort out mobile but I'll get there eventually.

bitcrush_io,

@48kRAM If for some reason KeePass doesn't work out, I've found Bitwarden to be stellar. Proton Pass is also very nice but still gaining features to bring it up to par.

The discussion[1] about replies as an abuse vector is so funny.

A bunch of techies trying to find a technical solution to a social problem.

Guys, IT DOESN'T WORK to ban replies or change replies or ban quote posts or "do it right this time" or whatever.

When there's humans, there's abuse.

The only way to deal with it is moderation; that is ban or block instances and users that are abusive.

big proud moment! working up the courage to move on to buildings, i modeled a chainlink fence all on my own! ...without procrastinating. it was easy!
it's used with a landscape spline and i'm proud to say that it tiles beautifully too. yay!

Another angle, this time looking up, at a 3D model of a chainlink fence. There is barb wire running along the top of it.
A screenshot showing the chainlink fence tiling along the landscape, using a landscape spline to place it over the terrain. there is barb wire running along the top of the fence. the fence is black, and there are mountains in the distance.

bitcrush_io,

@alienmelon Wow, looks fantastic!

Who are these people that supposedly prefer to rent? The only good thing about renting is that, in theory, if something breaks its someone else's problem to get it fixed. But in practice what happens is that you now have an obnoxious middle man in between you and getting the problem fixed and they can just decide fixing it isn't one of their priorities and you just get to deal with shit being broken

So who. Who actually enjoys renting when they intend to stay somewhere long term? Feel like this is just some bullshit landlords came up with to justify why renting is okay and people fell for their propaganda

bitcrush_io,

@eniko I'll bet they're the same imaginary people who "love their health insurance."

Looking forward to abolishing them both.

The Windows 95 skin for glitch.soc is ridiculous and great. When is the Mac OS 9 skin coming out, or am I going to have to add another project to my List of Things I May Or May Not Ever Complete?

bitcrush_io,

@FrankEndrullat Also cc @apps - I love the current ability to modify the theme colors, I used it to give my interface an amber monochrome theme. Is it remotely feasible to give users the ability to create themes from scratch?

How do I go about basically asking “who would like to write for a new magazine I’m starting, you probably won’t get paid much, if at all, and it won’t be for a long time until we see the returns quite a while after the issue has passed it’s on-sale date, and you won’t be able to live off this little, but it represents a possibility of writing for a magazine (heh yeh, that ‘exposure’ thing), and the pride of not ever ever ever fucking handing me a piece of work that you’ve just asked chatgpt to write for you – don’t you ever do that to me

Ahem where was I?

Yes, I’m launching a magazine and we’ll take pride in presenting actual human-written articles on our topics, and we’ll make a big noise in saying so

How do I ask for that?

bitcrush_io,

@u0421793 Sounds like you just did :) Where do I sign up?

Why're y'all calling facebook twitter Meta Threads ffs, quit ruining people's facebook filters, folk aren't gonna filter out the word "meta" or "threads" on a threaded space that talks about meta are they

bitcrush_io,

@ifixcoinops I thought the US Trademark Office had a rule about this, too. Like you can't just call your company a common word like "Apple" without further clarification of "Apple Computers". And I'm not being facetious, the Beatles had already created Apple Music way before Jobs came along and there was a big court case about it.

Not that it solves the search problem. Hopefully their next product won't just be called "Internet".

30 million users on day 1, dang.

That thing's just gonna swallow up mastodon.social in a heartbeat without even needing to chew huh

bitcrush_io,

@ifixcoinops A different way to look at it is that Instagram and Facebook already have "billions" of users, so shuffling some of them around probably isn't going to negatively impact mastodon.social. I doubt many people are going to leave the existing Fediverse for Threads or BlueSky et al. I'm pretty confident we'll just keep consistently growing a userbase in a natural way while everyone else has fun with their inane "content".

some of you know that i've been working on a decentralized reddit-like that uses an ancient ambrosian protocol called nntp, minus , called

for now, the tomo homepage is a plain old .plan file (when's the last time we heard that word, since the carmack vs romero wars?), and you can have any colour you want as long as it's amber and looks like wordperfect 5.1 running on some godforsaken library terminal on the

is it like a blog? kinda. i'll set up some more static pages for project-related stuff in the coming days

if people really, really want to, and someone asks nicely, i'll even run a fingerd server so you can finger me and pull down the .plans down yourself 😅

My Dad ran his own sign printing company back in the 80s, and we were looking at his portfolio today when I came across these notes from his business plan.

The GSP "Super Sprint" was a vinyl cutting plotter with its own monochrome terminal, which apparently cost $15,246 in 1988 (now $40k). The GDS II was Apple IIe based CAD system. @foone might be intrigued by that custom Super Sprint keyboard!
