Our first rental here in 2014 was $750/m.

Our second rental was $1020/m in 2016.

Our third rental was $1350 in 2019…

…. wait for it…

Units like ours now rent from $2,000-2,200/m.

Prices for rent have nearly TRIPLED in less than a decade. We’ve been priced out - it’s a large part of why we’re leaving.

How do you get ahead, save, and buy homes in this economy?!

My #cat has been sick lately and they can’t quite pinpoint what’s going on.

I know, she’s 17 1/2… but I’ll never be ready for ‘that day’.

It’s been expensive, very expensive, but she’s worth it. She’s stable - just some lab work and symptoms that are unusual.

She’s been my little everything my entire adult life. We have a special bond.

We’re going to the vet again tomorrow for more tests — could you please keep my lil Mac in your thoughts? She’s the bestest baby.

I have a life announcement! 📣

I’m going back to University! ( At 37! )

The program is self paced, online and all of my accessibility accommodations have been approved!

I’m excited to be able to take asynchronous courses in a supportive environment.

Day 1 is May 1st!
I’m studying Psychology & Philosophy.

I plan to attend Graduate School afterwards and become a Registered Psychologist in Alberta so I can do Autism assessments (and more), and provide a safe place for #LGBTQIA2S folks. 🏳️‍🌈

Why are they picking on this game and didn't do so with the likes of a game like Elden Ring?

So the NHL just banned Pride Tape from being used by any player on the ice.

This is after they recently banned all ‘special initiative’ jerseys - including Pride Jerseys.

The continual erasure of the queer community continues, even in sports.

There is so much more to this than the two examples above but I don’t have the mental energy to catalog it all right now for this post.

It’s disgusting. despicable. wrong. and frankly scary.

I need a new major special interest, I guess…

I had more medical tests and bloodwork done yesterday and things are (shocker) still abnormal.

I’ve been struggling with all that comes with #LongCovid since last summer. Yet I’m not much closer to understand when or if I’ll ever get better. I’m in a flare up.

In 3 days I’ve gone from “I think I’ll be ok, this won’t last long?” to mostly bed bound —- again. Whiplash, over and over.

My new #wheelchair was delivered this week and I’m absolutely over the moon

To have something that was custom measured and designed for my body makes a huge difference… this has been nearly a year in the making! ♿️

1. easier to push, so less fatigue and more mobility
2. feels like an extension of my body.
3. builds confidence in my wheelchair skills.

It makes me deeply sad that #Canada had to issue a travel advisory for #LGBTQIA+ travellers from Canada to the US.

I knew it was coming.
I’m American by birth, and it just feels… so backwards… so regressive… that it’s quite literally unsafe for me to visit my home country.

None of this sits well with me.

I ask you to stand with your queer and trans friends/family during a very difficult time for us to exist. Speak up. Volunteer. VOTE. Your support means more than we can say.

Lately I’ve been unable to sleep more than 2-3 hours uninterrupted. I’m waking up multiple times every night.

It’s part of why I have been so quiet. Sleep deprivation really messes with your cognition.

I’ve been trying to take it easy. I’m always looking for tips to help with my sleep that isn’t medication. Any tips?

So far I've played #EldenRing for 4 hours and I haven't beaten a single boss, I have no runes because I keep dying, and I'm basically about as terrible as anyone could be at the game.

But I knew I'd be terrible at it.
The repeated deaths don't make me mad.
I'm just chillin'.

Did I know there was no difficulty accessibility setting? yes. I bought it anyway.

I don't need tips, btw. Just talking into the video game void.

So… anyone know how to find people to load your U-Haul instead of paying like $100/person per hour to corporations sub-contracting?

Ugh.

We have been quoted $2,700 to load a 15’ U-Haul. TWENTY SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS. lol

We have also been quoted $800, but that still feels high for 2 hours.

Help. I’m afraid to post on FB seeking help, I don’t want to be scammed.

We’re on Vancouver Island.

It is so Alberta to have the government not issue my health card in my legal married name…but instead use a name I haven’t used in over 10 years.

Update:
I’m very certain now that the person who submitted my documents at the Registry was being descrimatory towards us as a married lesbian couple.

They didn’t send ANY of my documents confirming my married name to Alberta Health, not even my BC documents in my married name.

So they issued it in my prior name I had as a student in ‘05.
