Pet peeve: “podcasts” that offer no RSS feed and don’t show up in the major podcast directories. Folks, if the show is only available via a closed, proprietary platform, IT’S NOT A PODCAST.

I wish the 🇺🇸 government would take this outbreak more seriously.

It is infecting cows 🐄 & has been detected in milk 🍼.

But if it jumps species to pigs 🐖, we will have an epidemic that will make look like the sniffles. 🤧

Gmail Icon Due to my foolishness of accepting: Email subscriptions from various news agencies Promos from companies I did business with (just once) Vacation deals I signed up for while seeking travel destinations Random Substack emails from people who somehow add me as a subscriber …I am now receiving hundreds of emails a day! As in every day! Those are the emails that make it to my various inboxes & are not rendered as spam.

#Meta should just offer people in #Europe (& the rest of the planet) a simple option: either opt in to have your personal information sold to advertisers, or pay a fee to use #Facebook, #Instagram, #WhatsApp & #Threads.

It works for #YouTube (I pay them to avoid ads), as well as other news organizations. It’s really that simple.

Basically Twitter ads & Instagram ads when Apple blocks their tracking behavior. 😂

@madargon People find them useful so they exist. The ad business model is for those who want to freely use their services.

Hosting & using social networks costs money, & without a way to generate revenue most of the Internet would not exist.

Paying to not see ads or have your info siphoned off is a great alternative.

Did you know the @pixelfed app uses a deduplication algorithm on the hashtag feed?

Early on we identified a pattern of accounts posting the same content on their Mastodon/Pleroma account and again on their Pixelfed account.

Nobody wants to see duplicate posts, and I’m proud of the complex yet elegant solution I shipped!

It’s the small things and attention to detail that set us apart 😁

I know you are super busy @dansup, but is there anyway you could add location search feature when uploading pictures to within the (currently in beta) Pixelfed iOS app‽ I think every app uses this now.

Here is a compare & contrast so you can see what I mean (using Pixelfed on the web verses the app).

It’s not a priority as you have a zillion other things to do, but it would make it easier to find travel photos in the app. Thanks for reading!
