Keep an eye on the helicopter colors. Are the unmarked helicopters circling the area black? Probably World Government, not a good area for play that day. Are they blue? That’s the Sheriff’s Secret Police, they’ll keep a good eye on your kids, and hardly ever take one. Are they painted with complex murals depicting birds of prey diving? No one knows what those helicopters are, or what they want. Do not play in the area. -- Welcome to Night Vale, Episode 1

I was going to take a peek at reverse engineering a cheap BLE sensor I nabbed, but it seems like recent versions of Android truncate the (G)ATT packets in btsnooz_hci.log. I'm gonna go ahead and guess Google's just kicked us in the shins for no reason and there's no way to reverse that?

It appears the copy of Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End I purchased at a thrift store the other day is NOT the standard Disney version. 🤔

I'm curious if this is an authorized dub or not, I now realize the cover looks like it's color copied... and the video quality looks like it was filmed off a movie screen from the back seat of a theater.

Serious question, please boost for reach.

I’m a 50+ white male.

How many old white guys out there would be willing join a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to oppose old white guys in positions of power? How many people would be willing to provide financial support for the same?

Nothing like this currently exists in the U.S. and I think it could be a damn effective form of protest. Personally, I’m sick and tired of seeing old fucking white guys in power everywhere I turn. Am I an aberration?

Oh, and despite thinking of myself as a bit of wordsmith, I’m admittedly terrible at acronym generation. What’s a good name for an organization pursuing said mission?

To stay true to the cause, have it in the charter that all higher management be BIPOC. Public events could sandwich diverse speakers between white bread doing the "This next speaker is good people. Listen to them." thing. (Has anyone done Hawaiian shirts in Pride flag colors?)

You could take that entire slice of shared identity & Americana and use it to model/normalize equity. 2/2

Aren't there quite a lot of currently-successful opposition movements happening? Anti-abortion, anti-LGBT+, anti-immigrant, etc? The left has historically been bad at capturing & utilizing the same sort of outrage. If you'd like a more positive spin, maybe there's a space for something like DADBOD: Dad-bods Against Dickheads, Bigots, Or Demagogues

Have grilling events, lawnmower races, handyman fix-ins. Public uniform is Hawaiian shirts & cargo shorts. 1/2

"I love your app! But when I click on "share" links, it sends folks to the Apple App store, even if the user is on Android. This might be sending a lot of users to the wrong place. Browser detection before routing would help!

Small dev:
Meh. We'll get to it.

People talk a lot about “cozy” games, but I don’t think there’s anything cozier than a point & click “hidden object” adventure game.

The other part of that is that sometimes the wood beside the glue is still weak. So, you'll break at almost the same place again.

Almost, but not quite the same place. Being more intentional about the healing (reinforcing the area, for instance) can help prevent that.

@ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs This is vital. Kids often don't yet know to hug gently, not hug them with a finger in the eye, not step on paws, etc. Sometimes they'll do these things on purpose just to see what happens. Dogs are understandably concerned about these tiny, erratic humans.

We knew our pup to be a gentle pushover the ~6 years we've had him, but we watched him like a hawk as soon as our daughter was born.

Dog bites can cause lifetime consequences. Don't take the chance.

Now that I have a smart phone and I'm listening to audiobooks during my forced commute days, I'm getting through a lot more books.

I finished Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. It was excellent overall. I have a few minor quibbles, but I definitely enjoyed listening to it.

Not ready to talk about Black History. Still talking about white US history.

Q: Why are Black neighborhoods so often high crime neighborhoods? Must be a lawless people! Violent! Thieves! Predators!

A: There is no such thing as a "high crime neighborhood." The whole concept is entirely made up based on our notion of what we consider a crime.
