Yes, the caption in question is a tad too verbose for a socmed post, but I never thought it was written by ChatGPT, as one commenter (another writer, gasp!) accused. GenAI can't write such nuanced copy.

Only people who like to smart-shame and those who are not actually familiar with ChatGPT would level such an accusation.

China considers Taiwan a threat, not because Taiwan is independent and self-ruled. The issue is more ideological.

China does not want people to realize that Chinese people can be wealthy in a democratic system (aka Taiwan). This idea can seriously undermine the rule of the CCP.

Funny how Xi demands loyalty from the Chinese diaspora when most of them left the country because of poverty, war and persecution by the state. This is especially true of Chinese-Filipinos, some of whom consider themselves more Filipino than Chinese, have little interest in speaking Hokkien nor Mandarin, and who even represent the PH in sports events.

One of the things I love about the Indonesian language: the numerous fun portmanteaus.

You probably know nasi goreng. But in Indonesia it’s often shortened to ‘nasgor’.

Pisang goreng (fried banana) is ‘pisgor’.

Shops are called warung. So warung kopi (coffee shop) is warkop. An Internet cafe is warnet.

Indomie (In) with egg (TElur) corned beef (korNET), therefore Internet.

Tell me about it. I can't even avail of physical therapy in a government hospital without making an appointment on Facebook, where I don't have an account. In the end, I ended up using someone else's FB account. Imagine not getting health care just because you don't have Facebook.
