Hey everyone! We just got poll results back, and they're COMPELLING.

I'm running on an economic message for rural North Carolina. And you know what? IT WORKS.

Once people find out about my opponent's miserable job performance, North Carolinians overwhelmingly choose me instead.

In the 20 years he's been in office, Steve Troxler's made North Carolina into the state that's losing farmland fastest in the nation.

Turns out that's a great way to piss constituents off!

It's pretty lame how tech CEOs have decided they can't handle the stress of answering questions by people practicing journalism, so instead they talk to sycophant podcasters.

An obvious follow-up to this complaint about Apple & Google's gatekeeping and monopolistic activity is to ask him about how he reconciles that with Meta history of stealing innovators' ideas, duplicating them, and pushing them into bankruptcy. It's not to give a million dollar smile and let him go off unchallenged.

This MR segment on MAGA demographics is important.

When people say "why do they vote against their own interests?" (assuming MAGA folk are poor, rural) I'm just like "they aren't!"

Planned retirement communities with restrictions on who can move in are... questionable.

The problem with meme stocks is that they are tied to real companies that provide real goods and services.

Eventually they collide with the reality that the company is not selling as many products or growing fast enough to justify the price.

Bitcoin fixes this.

I have been using the perplexity.ai service for a while now, and I really like it. It is an LLM based conversational interface to Web search, which has the added quality of putting exact references into its response, so you can go back to the “real” sources. This “minor” touch makes it more useful than the other LLM based services in my view…

Of course, all answers are to be taken with a pinch of salt, but that is true for any web search after all...

Trump is upset he may miss his son's graduation because he's on trial.

Yeah, we do treat people in the criminal justice system harshly. People you have never thought about, people who have kids, and graduations, and moments missed forever.

But it's different now. He cries. It's happening to ME. To Me!

Nothing, no one, exists beyond the tip of some people's noses. They cannot see pain unless they feel it. Cannot recognize suffering unless it's their own.

What a stunted perspective.

NEW RESEARCH PAPER OUT! In this paper, @grimalkina and I explore how review anxiety is maintained and exacerbated to develop a model of code review anxiety. We also go a step further to develop and test the effectiveness of a cognitive-behavioral intervention for code review anxiety, so that we can reduce code review anxiety in an evidence-based and empirically-supported way (because science > vibes): https://osf.io/preprints/psyarxiv/8k5a4

such as improved code quality & security, learning & knowledge transfer, collaborative & creative problem solving, trust, & community building. Additionally, our research shows that, counter to industry myths about code review anxiety being a “junior developer problem,” code review anxiety impacts developers across experience levels (Our sample had 1-65 yrs coding experience). This means that any developer can have code review anxiety, making code review anxiety relevant to any team or org.

I got into tech because I fell in love with the idea that software could give people superpowers (like Richard Pryor beating Superman in Superman 3) which is why a new general of startups pitching AI as a way to replace people rubs me the wrong way.

It’s a dark dream.
